(it took me a while for this to actually dawn on me as I’m a little slow)
We’re getting the new fridge delivered on Monday, which is great, and I just called Harvey Norman to get their delivery/warehouse phone number so I can get a more specific time on Monday, and I asked if the delivery guys will actually install it/level it, etc, and she said they’ll just put it in the hole and all we have to do is turn on the power and push it back again…now, a question I have is…they are going to HAVE to position it properly and put the power on, cause we’re 2 girls and there is no way in hell we can move a fridge this size. We can’t even shift our old fridge, and it’s a hell of a lot smaller!!! So meh. They’ll just have to do it. But anyway, my originally thing I realised is, how long are the fridge power cords? Will it be really awkward to plug it in, turn on the power and then push the fridge way back into the void? (cause you know, our fridge is all enclosed on all sides by cupboards) Harvey Norman said the fridges are delivered upright, so they don’t need to be settled or levelled or whatever it is, and can be used right away. Is this right? Is this ok? Any fridge experts here!? How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Another fridge question! 10Aug 28, 2008 12:12 pm From my limited experience. If you don't level the fridge with the little knobs underneath, the door doesn't automatically close properly. You can set the little knobs so the door kind of swings closed if you leave it open a bit accidently. Very handy! Re: Another fridge question! 11Aug 28, 2008 12:15 pm The fridge should be on wheels and the cord should be long enough....you really will be fine and if all else fails, bat your eyelids and act helpless.....that should work and they should help(if there descent fellas).
and those little knobs are farely easy to get to....Don't worry you should be fine, fridges these days are fairly straight forward.... Good luck though..... Re: Another fridge question! 12Aug 28, 2008 12:55 pm Thank you!!
I usually do bat my eyelashes, as I’m such a flimsy girl. I won’t be there though when it arrives. I’ll have to instruct my less flimsy but very small/short girlfriend on what to make sure they do. Heheh. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Another fridge question! 13Aug 28, 2008 1:16 pm We had one delivered from the Good Guys and he unwrapped it, put it in place and levelled it.....and I didn't bat my eyelids.....
Also it's really handy if you can get them to take the packing material with them, having lived in a flat/apartment I know it's a PITA to get rid of lots of packing materials.....the Good Guys Guy took the rubbish. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Another fridge question! 14Aug 28, 2008 1:34 pm The Good Guys are really good…
We had our washing machine delivered by Harvey Norman and we didn’t know, but apparently the guy was only supposed to deliver it, not put it in place or assemble or hook it up or anything. We were like, WHAT!? We had NO idea how to do any of that, so he ended up doing it but we had to pay another $50 for the service on top of the delivery fee. Grr. It matters whether the company you purchased it from actually does the delivery or they contract it. The Good Guys use their own truck and it's there own staff member in the truck so delivery is part of the "service", same as Snooze who delivered and assembled our bed....other retailers may get a cartage contractor and therefore they will just deliver. Did you get a receipt for the $50?....or was the guy skimming off the top? mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Another fridge question! 16Aug 28, 2008 3:18 pm I know, it sounded bad but sometimes these things work (batting of eyelidsI mean) I had a treadmill delivered not so long ago and the young guy delivering it didn't even want to bring it inside for me...... Eyelids worked a treat.
TDL( I only just got what this meant by the way, TDL) Nice girl, bit slow...... I am glad you didn't have to bat your eyelids.....the delivery driver might have left a lot quicker if you had of, and none of those nice things would have got done for you. Not that theres anything wrong with that! I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 9247 Hi, Apologies - I know there is plenty out there on this but struggling to put together the puzzle.
