What’s happening with the last one……the red and black are both very dominate colours, so they will always be competing with each other.
That’s not restful …..and after a while could prove to be very unsettling.

As long as its the right way round its all good.
No really the black does sound rather nice and I think you will much prefer dressing up with red accessories........you can get some very nice red martini glasses around the place......they look nice on show and when there is a nice fresh bowl of red apples sitting on your bench, they to will now look.... sexy sorry deliscious(sp). Its going to look fabulous and I can't wait to see the end product. Its going to look fabulous and I can't wait to see the end product. reason black is in first place is just that reason. we can dress up the kitchen any way we want and it won't impose on our design like red would. but only concern is it will look a bit ominous like Mish suggested. I never liked eating off black plates so I'm guessing the kitchen might be the same. Oh well too late now ! hopefully the glitter will lighten up the mood a bit - plus anyone that knows us will see the black for what it is .... difficulty in making a damn decision. black ... the new white for those who can't decide Re: The dreaded splashback question 96Aug 29, 2008 3:38 pm If you can, focus a couple of down lights at the splashback then it may not look as heavy (but you have the sparkly bits so it shouldn't anyway)......Just keep alot of light in.
and if you have some pretty striking (red, white, silver)feature accessories you will probably find the black will highlight those things. Think of your splashback as a frame to your accessories........alot of people use black frames to make their images stand out more........ I think its going to look stunning based on the fact that the rest of your house looks stunning also..... Re: The dreaded splashback question 97Aug 29, 2008 10:53 pm thanks gweluphome
we spoke with our glass guy tonight and he is an absolute gem. We highly recommend him. He understood our dilemma and although he has cut the glass he suggested he paint it the black colour and put it up in our kitchen early next week (but not glued on). He'll leave it for a week and if we don't like it he will take it off and replace with a different colour. What a guy - I just love him. He reckons we are the nicest ppl he has worked with (probably says that to all his customers ) and because we've had such a difficult time with it all he wants to help us out. I am so impressed. Once he said that the anxiety just flew out the window. I am sure splashbacks are so difficult for ppl because they are a fairly large area and you don't want it to intrude on your decor too much. Anyhow they'll arrive early next week so I'll post pics for you. Cheers and thanks everyone Re: The dreaded splashback question 98Aug 30, 2008 8:01 am that is so great DeeElle. Your glass guy sounds really nice - must restore your faith a bit after all your troubles.
Did you tell him you'll use him for your next build (ha ha - I can't believe you said that either! ) Re: The dreaded splashback question 100Aug 30, 2008 8:14 am DeeElle Our glass guru has given me 24 hours to change my mind as he is well aware of my personality and reckons splashbacks are the single most difficult decision for most ppl building . Yes they seem to be the most difficult decision on this forum anyway! It's because there is so much choice with glass. If you only had tiles to pick from, you just have to go to a tile shop and pick from what they have - and there are only so many tile shops you can go to. With paint colours though, the choice is almost endless. I'm almost glad we didn't factor a glass splashback into our budget, otherwise I'm sure we'd be having just a hard time of picking a colour as the rest of you! thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 10261 You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9941 |
