Wondering what is needed to easily be able to add a shower to the powder/laundry room later down the track. Re: 'Future proofing' shower downstairs 2Feb 10, 2013 7:24 am I would assume you'd need the plumbing there. I can't think of anything else. You can leave the floor as it is then and just add a screen later - unless of course you will be doing a full conversion and removing cupboards etc anyway where the shower will be going as you'll just do it later then. Also if you're tiling your walls now - waterproof before hand. If you're just gyprocking now, then you can waterproof later I guess before you tile the walls in the shower space. AS Home Angels said, I would also think the plumbing and just have the waste there. You don't want to have to try dig your slab up later to get the plumbing right. All the points you raise are pertinent. The only one I would add is to use villaboard for the wall sheeting or at least wet area plasterboard and to also allow or install a fan for ventilation. As said, see if you can get waterproofing done also. But then again... what timeframe are you talking about? 1 year? 5 years? 15 years? The longer the time until you plan to do it, the more likely you may rethink something in the meantime. Land settled May '14.
