Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in SA - 2012 395Jan 21, 2013 9:56 pm Will be nice to see another house starting down your end RJ. Danni looking forward to seeing your plan. Please post here when you've worked it out Re: Building in SA - 2012 396Feb 19, 2013 9:44 am Well Commencment letter was received by the Builders on Friday so hopefully we will have some sort of work done on the block in a couple of weeks or so. A quick question or the rookie variety. Our building consultant gave us the name of a retired builder to help with Fencing/Retaining/Stormwater and we were wondering when are you able to start doing the retaining/stormwater? Can this be done when the house is in lockup or do you have to wait until after handover? Just trying to get an idea of when we should be looking at contacting this ex-builder (and a few others) to get a quote... Any help would be great. As far as our builder went we were instructed that the stormwater HAD to be done once the roof/guttering was complete because if flooding occurred and we hadn't done it the responsibility was ours, with the fences etc we waited and did after handover but organized it well before hand. Good luck with the build. Re: Building in SA - 2012 398Feb 19, 2013 12:41 pm ![]() Fencing/Retaining/Stormwater and we were wondering when are you able to start doing the retaining/stormwater? May be easier (and cheaper) to do the retaining before building/walls get in the way. As previously said, do storm water as soon as down pipes are on, just in case we have an early winter. Wait until handover to do fencing so it won't get damaged by tradies/graffiti etc. Re: Building in SA - 2012 399Feb 21, 2013 1:22 pm ![]() Well Commencment letter was received by the Builders on Friday so hopefully we will have some sort of work done on the block in a couple of weeks or so. Bugger, I have finally managed to contact him and he won't do it because the retaining will be 1.5m and he won't do over 1. Sigh...
