Thanks for everyone's insights and experiences throughout 2012, they've helped a lot in our building process. Looking forward to giving you all updates as we progress in 2013! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1747Jan 02, 2013 12:41 pm Happy new year everyone hope yours was better than ours.. Our dog has injured his back and isn't walking properly so we had to stay home.. Great timing as surgery is a possibility and will not be cheap.. Smorgzzz your house is looking fantastic! And that retaining wall is a good effort!! My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1748Jan 03, 2013 7:02 pm Merry xmas and HNY everyone! Another quick question for those building a double storey- do we get one or two control panels for the ducted air con? I dont recall anyone ever giving us an option, I thought it would have been done at electricals . . I think it makes sense to have one panel downstairs and one upstairs Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1749Jan 03, 2013 8:15 pm Building s36 - I think you only get one pad. I think for memory they did offer a second pad, maybe it was at colours when they were talking about additional zones. Met the council out on the block today. It was the boss of the tree people and he had to identify the trees that are to be removed. He was happy with all of the, and the second person in council that actually used common sense. He said that he values trees, but values human life more and the trees on the block that are going to be removed, he would not want them near his house. So we should have permission to remove them in the coming weeks. I have to put in the s96 for the additional fill at the back of the house. We showed him the pad and he was happy with it and said it was more practical now than what was on the plans. Thank you for all of the information & help in 2012. Well we are at frame stage & our SS is not back until the 14th. We have issues & our SS assures us that they will be sorted. The garage slab has to be fixed as it rained on the day & its wrecked. He said it will be sorted but I am not sure at what point of the build. The home theatre room window is wrong & our ensuite window which is above the vanity mirror is to low (my husband would have to crouch down to look in the mirror!) and they have put a wall where we are paying to not have it & not putting a wall where we are paying to have it! We are being told all will be fixed but I am wondering if anyone else has had issues and how they have been handled? Besides that we are really excited about being in by May & I am using this week of my holidays to start packing & sorting everything out. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1752Jan 05, 2013 6:17 pm Forg - Thanks, I now have that song stuck in my head! Mel - I think you have the same SS that we had, if he says it will be sorted, he will get it done. We had a couple of issues, showerhead in the wrong spot, bulkhead too low, missing pier in garage - errors that were on plans, not SS's fault. They were all rectified. Have fun packing, it's a nice feeling packing things up knowing that the next time they'll be seen will be in your new home. Hi MelC, We drove past your place yesterday while trying to get the little one to sleep! We have the the same SS. We are building next door in Gregory Hills. I am not sure how your slab could be wrecked by the rain? It may not appear perfect, but a higher moisture content from rain during the pour should have no bearing on overall strength. I would not be too concerned with the framing errors as described. The frames are put together today almost like a dot to dot with numbers. Unfortunately, sometimes they are incorrect... We had the same issue, but was rectified before the framers completed and left site. We are almost at the same stage. Our frame has been completed and bricks and sand delivered. A single storey must have a much shorter construction program than double as we were advised 40 weeks plus the Xmas shutdown! We would love to be in by May as we have a second child due in April. Best of luck with the build. I would recommend that you follow things up in writing with BS as we have had a very good experience to date. Tondar Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1754Jan 06, 2013 6:40 pm Shock horror today. we went past the block today and DH thought that it looked like the water meter had been installed. A quick uturn and we stopped to find out it had been installed, but still no water Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1755Jan 06, 2013 7:29 pm Jen - Fingers crossed for some progress this week. The fencers start tomorrow on our place, finally. Finally our Golden Retriever will be able to use the yard, currently he is living inside and has toilet breaks (like an apartment dog!) When we've been doing stuff in the yard he's with us constantly, he loves it. Got to call and organise some blind quotes & screen door quotes too.
