Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Nov 19, 2012 12:04 am Hi there has anyone found a perfect dark grey fence colour? I have read some earlier threads and from those I gather that Woodlands Grey is a bit green. To me Ironside in the Colourbond range looks very blue and Monument is very dark. We are not restricted to the colourbond range as it is for an old super 6 fence to go around our pool area. We will have plants in front of the fence in some areas. We have limestone walls and are planning to use liquid limestone around the pool. Any ideas?? Re: Dark grey fence colour?? 2Nov 20, 2012 11:51 am Hi, from looking at different sites I've seen other colours, not the actual standard CLB ones. Here's one link: http://www.lysaght.com/fencing/colorbon ... lour-range I suggest you do some research as there may well be other colour choices available to you from different steel manufacturers. Re: Dark grey fence colour?? 3Nov 22, 2012 1:23 pm The best colours for fences make them as inconspicuous as possible. Greeny greys work best as they do not attract the eye and will blend in with foliage. I suggest you plant foliage plants close-by then you'll see less of the fence in time. Re: Dark grey fence colour?? 4Dec 14, 2012 10:27 am I am making the same decision at the moment. Here is a link to a landscaping website where they use Dulux Black/Kelp http://www.andiamolandscaping.com.au/ti ... ling-fence. I'm thinking I will get a sample pot of this and see what it looks like. Re: Dark grey fence colour?? 6Dec 14, 2012 9:16 pm I went to get a sample pot of the Dulux Kelp / Black and was told it had green in it which I wasn't really keen on. After taking some paint colour sheets home I ended up going back to the paint shop for a sample pot of Dulux Domino (funny that miagi just suggested it). Anyway I have just painted a sample sheet of timber and I really like the colour - it's not quite as dark as I was expecting, so glad I didn't go Woodland Grey as I think it would have been way too light for me. I am going back to the paint shop tomorrow morning to buy 10ltrs and start painting the fence. I can post a photo once I have painted the small section of fence I plan to do this weekend if you would like. The rest of the fence will need to wait until I get my hands on a spray gun. Re: Dark grey fence colour?? 7Dec 16, 2012 7:48 pm Thanks guys, that would be great if you could post a picture and let me know if you are happy with Domino - I did pick up a swatch of the colour some time ago but wondered if it would be too dark. Good luck painting! Re: Dark grey fence colour?? 8Dec 16, 2012 9:51 pm I've not long finished the second coat on a section out the front. I'm really happy with the colour, however I would say that it looks a bit more bluey than greeny, but against green plants I think it will look fantastic. Not sure how to add a photo though. Re: Dark grey fence colour?? 9Dec 17, 2012 2:20 pm +1 for domino. I just did my whole fence in it and plants look great against it. A landscaper freind uses it alot and clients are always happy. it is a true grey not blu grey or green grey as some greys tend to be Re: Dark grey fence colour?? 10Dec 22, 2012 7:13 pm If you can let me know how to post a photo am happy to do so. About to start painting the back fence tomorrow (big job, ahhh), it's good to know that a landscaper uses it a lot with happy customers.
