I need some help as I don't know what would be good plants to put in these planter boxes - I have tried to read other threads but I am not sure it would apply to me. I have three boxes 4.3 X .65/ 7.15 X .70/ 2.3 X .75 They are all about 60cm deep Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Currently I have bad clay soil but I am going to mix in good soil/ compost and gypsum Some ideas I have gone through I am currently contemplating the last three but still not sure: Nepalese Blue Bamboo (Clumping Variety) Pro: Looks pretty Cons: Lots of leaf litter, Might not withstand the wind Blueberry Ash Pro: Pretty flowers/ Australian Native Cons: Might be too tall (6m I have read) Boronia Heterophylla Pro: Pretty flowers/ leaf colour Cons: Might not be dense enough to withstand wind and create privacy Pittosporum Green Pillar Pro: Good Height Cons: Have read they are suceptable to mealy bugs and disease Agonis After Dark Pro: Nice Foliage Cons: Might be too big for the space provided Many thanks ! Re: Need help please for Hedging/ Border plants against fenc 2Dec 12, 2012 11:15 am Hi, nothing is going to get too big in those boxes there is not enough soil volume to support 6m trees. I wouldn't bother with the bamboo it will get ratty in fun sun and wind. Blueberry ash is a great choice and you can simply clip it the desired height and width. But overall, looking at the entire fence, you might be better off attaching mesh/lattice and growing climbers like Star Jasmine across the lot. You can get big coverage from a small root area with a climber compared to hedging shrubs/small trees. Thanks for the tip - I was wanting some privacy though becuase standing on the soil the fence is only about 1-1.2 m high. I don't want to be able to see people over my fence! DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair I'm in WA and our sandy soils make drainage a bit easier but this is what I'd be doing. Dig down to your footings and let the wall dry out. Clean it all well by brushing… 1 3385 6 2992 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 1033 |
