Or better still if it bugs you that much make a message that kindly asks the tradies to call your land line.. That's what I reckon.... just don't answer the mobile and they (tradies/anyone for that matter) will hopefully, eventually call the landline. Or even if they don't - don't return the message left on the mobile (again, assuming it's not an emergency) and when they ask if you got their message or why you didn't return the call, you can say that as per your instructions, you had asked them to call the landline so you had only been checking that message-bank. They might eventually learn to contact you on the landline, but I just think you are fighting an uphill battle on this one and maybe not worth the headache it is causing you. Good luck. HHCIB exactly, and hope that you are not paying interest on the 2 week standoff for your tradie wanting an answer on something but because you refuse/ not answering your mobile he is treading water.....whilst your paying interest on funds..... seriously, dont even bother giving a mobile number if you never want to be called on it. i can see both sides and although it may seem as "simple instructions",it is the building industry and some by the looks of things need to suck it up a bit....man you are lucky someone is even ringing you. Re: Telephones - Mobile and Land Lines ? 19Dec 04, 2012 6:33 am OK - thanks guys. I have a mobile - but if someone asks me to ring their landline I do. Maybe I'm the one out here - ie listening to my customer ... I can't see how there could be a 2 week delay because of a phone call. If I say ring me on this Number and I'm there - then I answer. I deliberately don't take the mobile with me at times - I find it rude to interupt meetings, discussions with a ringing mobile. But, that's me I guess. Re: Telephones - Mobile and Land Lines ? 20Dec 04, 2012 8:30 am Saint Mike I deliberately don't take the mobile with me at times - I find it rude to interupt meetings, discussions with a ringing mobile. But, that's me I guess. Well that's a whole different discussion. I don't think anyone is saying that because the use of mobiles is more common and frequent, that it is OK to use them blatantly and without regard for the situation you are in (whether it be a meeting, having dinner, or on the train). You can turn them down/off when it isn't appropriate to take calls. But I didn't think that was the point in question. Of course there is some shocking etiquette out there when it comes to using mobile phones. I carry my mobile with me most of the time - but it is turned down (silent) at work and I don't take/return calls during work unless it is urgent. I would never use it at the dinner table or when in a conversation with people - and certain other times at my discretion. Just because I have it on me doesn't mean I have to use it. You call it bad customer service, but when it comes to the building industry, I'd say it's good service that you are getting the call to begin with - at least they are communication and/or returning calls. That can only be a good thing when it comes to tradies etc. I nearly died yesterday when I actually received a quote when they said I would (mind you, after one call to remind them). You might not like it, but you might have to learn to live with it - or not HHCIB 2 6340 I'm based in Adelaide and I'm considering purchasing a house and land package from Weeks Homes. I found a deal that looks good, but there's a complication: the land isn't… 0 1286 Hi everyone, I'm very new to the housing market and would appreciate any guidance. I have found what I think is a good land and home package. Marketed as "turnkey".… 0 641 |
