Our thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67954 Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 410Nov 15, 2012 9:31 pm kitkat90 MrsT12 Those of you who are using NHI, do you mind if I ask how much extra they charge to go out to Wallan? No extra charge, Wallan is still within there general area Awesommmmmmme! Thanks Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 411Nov 16, 2012 4:12 pm Frame Inspection Done! The inspector came up with 12 issues, they all seem quite small and easily fixed so hopefully the builder will just fix it cos some of the issues go against australian standards... see how we go, the report has been sent to the builder. It did state that over all the build and the quality of materials were to a high standard so that is good to know! Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 413Nov 19, 2012 11:33 am Hopefully your SS will be onto it ASAP jpc.....seeing as some of the defects were against AUS standards, he cant talk his way out of them! We had a meeting this morning with our SS, talked a few of our issues over and came out very happy with his response's so all is smoothed over now was worried he was going to be a little awkward and hard to deal with after our blue last week but all was good he also told us he was more than happy for us to have more independent inspections moving forward as in his words "he has nothing to hide" so should not have any more issues there. Our whole house was plastered over the weekend bricks are being washed today, kitchen and vanities installed this week along with all of the architraves and skirting boards. We should be onto final stage by next Monday and our SS estimates handover to be end of January but we will have a better idea as it gets closer. Cant wait for the Christmas and new year sales to start........time to SHOP!!! Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 414Nov 21, 2012 9:24 am Well we still have not heard much about the defects picked up in our inspection (Oh and Stormjr I absolutely agree with what you said about the issues should have been picked up by the mandatory inspection...concerning indeed) I emailed the report to our admin person who said to email it to someone else who said no not to me, I will email it to the SS and another person to look into. Hopefully we will hear something back soon! Kitkat, your place is flying along at high speed, end of JANUARY!! thats only 2 months away, how exciting. So maybe your SS was having like a bad day (or bad week) and he has mellowed out now cos you seem to be getting a better response from him re your issues. I am hanging for the end of year sales too, when we moved out of our rental and into mother in laws place to save for our deposit we sold a bunch of our furniture so im looking forward to getting some serious shopping done. Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 415Nov 23, 2012 10:03 am Hey jpc Good to hear that quality materials were used on the frame. Hopefully they will correct the 12 issues fast do things can get moving along. I hear what you mean about furniture I think our house will be pretty bare until we get the fencing done as council believe they are are not liable as it backs on to a reserve.. After several emails and calls, looks like we are up for a fortune.. will have to make do with the furniture we have which is a real shame as we were looking forward to a much needed update and shopping spree. Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 416Dec 03, 2012 12:04 pm Been very quiet here lately, how is everyone going??... we have the slowest brick layer in the world... I think he is doing it on his own cos I have lost track of how long the bricks have been going but I think it’s a good 3 and we are not even half way there, seems to be doing a good job though! We also got word that we are getting a new SS as ours has left the company. Oh and the defects from the inspection are supposedly being fixed. Lots more new houses have started and there is a house in 1A I reakon they will be in before Christmas. Garage door on and Driveway poured! Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 417Dec 03, 2012 12:30 pm Good to hear some real progress is being made over on your side of town jpc - wrt the brickie personally I'd take a slower-but-good job over a fast-but-careless job any day of the week (same goes for everything in a build tbh as it's hard to pay any real attention to detail when you're in a hurry). Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs. Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 418Dec 03, 2012 8:13 pm I think we have the same brick layer! Must be close to a week now and about half the house is done, he's been left behind, external doors hung and plaster up! Yep, we got locked out of house today, was open last night, but locked up tonight! Seen the same house, nearly done! There's getting to be a few close to finished I think 2 Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 419Dec 04, 2012 9:20 am Be grateful for your slow brickies guys! I would of traded a slow one that did the job properly over the guys that we had slapped our house together in 4 days.....3 odd weeks later half the house is falling apart!!!!! I highly doubt any of them where even qualified! We had another independent inspection and found 15 odd defects that are against building regulation! 12 of which are brick related....a few pretty major ones too!. Looks like majority of the house will need re-bricking now . Our friends across the road got the best brick layer I have ever seen! he took almost a month to brick their 22sq mtr house but did an AMAZING job! not a single crack, crooked brick ect.... and he was so neat and tidy it looks like the bricks have already been washed sooooo jealous we didn't get him! Re: Woodlands Edge, Wallan 420Dec 04, 2012 10:01 am Kitkat that is horrible!! How unnecessarily stressful Has your SS been accepting of the issues and willing to fix them? What are they thinking when they hire these tradesmen, and surely your SS would have seen the poor workmanship and clearly turned a blind eye to it hoping you wouldn’t notice. How sad that these sorts of tradesmen can be allowed to work on peoples homes and how immoral are they to know they are doing a poor job but keep doing it anyways! Yes makes me appreciate our slow brickie more cos he really does seem to be doing a good job and is also very neat and tidy. Can't help but wish it would be a little quicker though.. hopefully this week he has made a bit of progress.
