Regards Ragnar's wife Re: Building in SA - 2012 375Nov 05, 2012 11:59 pm Gristy claypot Yeah it is a bit confusing. From the site: "Housing Construction Grant The $8500 HCG is available for new home buyers and owner builders, and, including investors, who are purchasing or building a new home valued up to $400 000, phasing out for properties valued up to $450 000. " It does appear that it is probably based on property value not construction value. Although the "or building a new home valued up to $400 000" made me think upto $400,000 for construction cost. I will have to do some more home work on this one. Still a good little boost for the industry, and any one building a new home that fit's into the criteria. i asked our broker, he said it was total value land and house, id love to be proved wrong Cheers for clearing that up Gristy, Oh well certainly not the first time I've been rolled or missed out from the goverment!! Still great for those who can benefit from it, all those little things you forget always add up. And I'm yet to meet a person who has completed a house with in their original budget. Welcome to you RagnarD certainly plenty of info and helpful people here. I have contacted 3 companies so far, one took forever to quote and was waaaayyy too expensive and the other 2 have not got back to me. I dont think anyone wants to do it I really wish I thought of this on our plan, so the kitchen people could do it during our build!!! Re: Building in SA - 2012 378Nov 07, 2012 4:43 pm Hi wildorchild, We had the same problem finding someone to do custom entertainment units. I went down and spoke to Complete Kitchens on the weekend and they have been very helpful. Not sure on the price yet but I should have that by the end of the week. They did my kitchen in my current house about 4 years ago and did a great job. Not sure where you are located but they are at Melrose Park. Hope this helps. Lab Re: Building in SA - 2012 379Nov 08, 2012 1:35 am wildorchid we are also using complete kitchens for all our joinery including entertainment units in our house. I can't give you any details on the price unfortunately, however they seemed to be competitive for our builder Building in SA - 2012 380Nov 08, 2012 10:08 pm Wild orchid have you considered a 'carpenter' who might advertise in the local Messenger? We use on years ago to fit out a work/room office and he did a great job and it was cost effective. I’m curious about how you went with this.
