Here's an interesting question: my neighbour had her concrete driveway poured so that it extends about 3 metres acorss my nature strip at it's widest part (next to the road). She argues that the nature strip is Council land, and it's fine for it to be there. Sadly, it ruined my ideas for the entryway I was planning, but if what she's saying is true I'll live with it.
However, during the building of my house, the driveway's cracked on my side... and now she wants me to repair it. Does anyone know:
- Is it my responsibility?
Is it technically hers, if it's on Council property?
What should happen next?
I certainly don't want to stir up trouble with the neighbour, so a softly-softly approach is needed. Still, it doesn't stop me feeling a little annoyed that my entryway plans have been stuffed (anyone want to buy some lovely wrought iron gates? ).
