Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Scratches in new window/door frame....advice needed 25Aug 15, 2008 10:10 am Helyn I don't understand this idea that a window frame cant be fixed after bricking done ; it can certainly be replaced after bricking done or otherwise how would people with old brick houses replace their windows?? Several years ago we replaced all the windows in our double brick house, previuosly wooden shutter windows which we repalced with sliding aluuminium ones. Or am I missing something here?? I have had an alum window replaced with a sliding door in our existing home......and I have installed them my self as well The sliding door was installed without damaging any surrounding brickwork but, if you compare this new window with the exiting ones, there is a slight difference to the way its installed Generally speaking...aluminium window FRAMES can not be removed after bricking is completed...the frames have to be broken up to remove the FRAMES However the sliding windows and doors themselves CAN be removed at any time....just lift up...pul out at the bottom...drop down and remove So it depends on what part is actually scratched as to weather replacement is possible without demolishing the brickwork Best Price Wardrobes Sliding door robes | Walk in robes Deco panel | Mirror | Melamine 26 to 28 Cottage lane Hackham M: 0402 927 376 http://www.bestpricewardrobes.com.au Trade welcome Re: Scratches in new window/door frame....advice needed 26Aug 15, 2008 10:18 am Kevin Brown However the sliding windows and doors themselves CAN be removed at any time....just lift up...pul out at the bottom...drop down and remove So it depends on what part is actually scratched as to weather replacement is possible without demolishing the brickwork Yep, that's what I was hoping would happen. The scratched part is actually one half of the sliding door (our doors open from the middle out). Thanks Kevin If the part that is scratched can be removed from the frame as you are suggesting, then the door can be pulled out , dismanted (hopefully) and re-powder-coated...... You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8004 Its the flashing and is normal. Some builders cover them up others just leave them handing. You can cover it up with an aluminium bracket or ask the builder. 7 11227 1 14482 |
