Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building new home in SA 15Sep 24, 2012 2:47 pm Hi Gristy, great to see you've now got a design, I do like the second one as it seems to make better use of the space, as Tash says, it fits a lot in https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building new home in SA 16Sep 24, 2012 3:10 pm I like what you have done Gristy, kept most of the functional space, but just managed to shrink it down a fair way. I hope you don't mind if I offer a couple of points for consideration, please feel free to ignore them!: There doesn't seem to be any cabinetry in the laundry as per the plan, you might want to check that on the next revision (assuming you do want cupboards in there) I'd try to avoid having a toilet without an external window if possible - not sure if this is achievable on your plan as is, but having natural ventilation is preferable to having an exhaust fan going all the time. I noticed you put cupboards across the entry from the garage, forcing people through the pantry and kitchen. For the most part this will not be an issue, but there might be times you will hate having to go all the way around (eg if you get home late and want to go straight to the bedroom). It will probably also be a bit cheaper to leave the hallway there. The default plan has a window, but this design gives a bigger shower, i see your point thought will have to give it some thought. as for the hall we were wanting to maximize space, so that bit that looks wasted instead of going through, at this stage will be a "Server room" i.e. media server/ data cabling / security system / maybe a safe etc. Hopefully the scale drawing/quote comes in the next few days Initial Deposit 28/09/2012 // Prelim Contract Signed 25/11/2012 Selections 21/1/2013 to 23/1/2013 // Contract Signed 22/2/2013 Site Start 21/5/2013 // Slabbed 30/5/2013 Re: Building new home in SA 18Sep 24, 2012 4:33 pm Love your new plan, especially the ensuite!
