Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our new home in the country 122Sep 12, 2012 9:41 am Approaching handover. Well it was going to be next Monday. Then Tuesday. Now looking like Wednesday. Or later. The list is so long I'm not so sure. Anyway what can you do. I'm just about to go up to check the carpet guys arrived today. We expected them yesterday. No one turned up yesterday at all. The gas guys came on Monday. Dug a small trench next to the house and left Meter has been ordered for thursday so i really hope they come back to finish off. Not stressed AT ALL!!! Re: Our new home in the country 124Sep 12, 2012 12:42 pm I know Kayla. A week-ish to go and it looks so unfinished. Anyway the bamboo is going in now. Builder rang a bit earlier to ask what direction we wanted it laid. And it will be done today and carpets tomorrow. I hope all the other tradies still to come take their shoes off Still to get electrics finished, just a few switches, a missing power point in the laundry and lights and fan in the living. Door handles everywhere, skirting back on, hanging rail in WIR. Painter to finish outside eaves and verandah and touch up skirting inside. Plumber to do water tank, hot water system, cooker, toilets. Shower screens. Window guys to fix rubber seals on kitchen window. Gaps around windows and doors on outside to be filled. Verandah still to be concreted. Site clean. If it stays dry. Cleaner booked for Monday. I'm not even sure if that is everything Re: Our new home in the country 127Sep 12, 2012 9:15 pm I was wondering how close you were! One step forward, two steps back it seems. Our cooker which was sitting in the house since July was unwrapped today by the builder to find.. Photos have been sent to HN but because of the time elapsed since we bought it Im not sure how it will go. But on a good note. I got inside to look at the cooker so I grabbed my camera and snapped a few good but dusty piccies to show. The packaging was spotless. Very strange. Anyway, handover set for Tuesday or Wednesday as lots was done today. But now the cooker issue could hold us up. It's looking soo good Lesley, your so close too How annoying that your oven is in such poor condition...so it must've been that way when you brought it? Hopefully HN will play nice and replace it for you, but I guess it's a tough argument when it's been sitting in a building site for so long... I hope it wasn't some silly careless tradie! Kayla Re: Our new home in the country 131Sep 16, 2012 4:33 pm Your carpets are beautiful Lesley, they go perfectly with your colour scheme I also love your skirting boards, much nicer than the boring standard ones. Have you heard anymore about a handover day? Kayla Re: Our new home in the country 132Sep 16, 2012 4:52 pm Thank you Kayla. We are really pleased with them. Not seen them from the inside yet though. We have final inspection on Tuesday but there still seems a lot to do. But if we dont get keys on Tuesday then hoefully by the end of the week. Re: Our new home in the country keys today!! 135Sep 19, 2012 10:03 am Inspection done yesterday. Its looking loooovely. A small list of paint touch ups, scratched bath and a wee dint in the island bench to be fixed. But it wont hold up us getting keys today!!!! A few inspection piccies. Just dont know when. Re: Our new home in the country 137Sep 19, 2012 12:16 pm Thanks so much Kayla. We are sitting waiting for the call from the builder. He said he should be ready around 11 and no call yet. Going crazy haha. Packing a few boxes into our campervan to take up. Truck aranged for Saturday for the big stuff. Just getting essentials there today. Been making roman blinds for the bedrooms over the last few weeks and we are goung to be a bit cheeky and take them up today and ask the builder to put them up for us. Re: Our new home in the country 138Sep 19, 2012 1:57 pm How excruciating it must be waiting to hear from them - that will be us tomorrow, I can't wait! Your so clever making your own blinds! I'm sure the least your builder could do is to help you put your blinds up, I mean since they built the house and everything, why not make sure the blinds are perfect too Kayla Re: Our new home in the country 139Sep 19, 2012 3:38 pm Hi Lesley A BIG Congratulations on getting keys!!! Everything is looking great, you must be so pleased! It is all looking so fantastic, you must be so thrilled. I like so many things, particularly the kitchen window - love how it frames the view, your doors by your fireplace, the vaulted ceiling, the pendants, And your WIR! And your sofa - is that Laura ashlley? It is lovely. Hope you will post some moved in pics when you get yourself sorted, but for now good luck with the move and congratulations, enjoy your fantastic new home! I still can't quite believe ours is ours!!
