Interesting slab construction. Do they pour the concrete directly on the sand? Hang on, that's a dump question, they've still got the formwork and reo to install. Re: An artists impression 51May 15, 2007 7:05 pm Hey…I’ve got to say also….that’s a very interesting form-up as well.
I like it; it looks like it will be sturdy!!! Also have to ask how many wet areas is there? There seem to be a lot of PVC pipes sticking up. You go Matt, lots of cleaning????? I put this on your blog before I found this topic. "I hope you don't mind me saying this, but have you thought about not having the pillar in the garage entrance and going with the wider door as per the display picture? I know it is none of my business, but if you end up with a drive like ours will end up (having a difficult curve) you could curse every time you drive into the garage." Cheers Tony Re: An artists impression 55May 15, 2007 9:28 pm Hey Ant,
It is your business and I appreciate the feedback. I thought for a long time about this and was a descision that was made after i decided to widen the driveway. Originally I would have had a big swing to get into the second garage but we increased the width of the driveway by 2 meters and the crossover by 1 meter to accomodate the 2 doors rather than the one big one. Also becasue the inner garage will also house the workshop / storage area's I would like to be able to open the garage door's to vent / clean etc and not have people seeing the valuable's so to speak. We currently have a garage which is 6 meters wide and we find that even when parked to the outside edge the doors still hit and with this design this will force a minimum 1000mm clearance between each car. A good point, but not suitable for what we wanted!! Matt Re: An artists impression 56May 15, 2007 10:08 pm Hi Matt
That makes perfect sense! Actually good point about people not being able to see in. You often do see the lot when driving around the neighbourhood and people have their garage open. We got the design of our garage widened by 1M, but the opening is standard size. We wil use this extra width to build in some storage after we move in.
