For tomorrow they will use a standard template and replot at a later stage. This will not give me a true costs for my tiles selections. I spoke to my BC and enquired when the drawings will be ready and she told me it's normal for the drawings to be ready after selections whether tiles or colours. Is it true? I have insisted to know when the drawings will be ready so she will find out with drafting. What concerns me is that we will not know the real price until contract time. And that time is already stressed to check if everything is correct and included, the last thing I want is to make more cosmetic changes. Did you have your drawings at your tiles and colours appointments? Stressing out here......... Ebony/Helen @PD, is this something you can help me with? Porter Davis homes 5904Aug 16, 2012 4:29 pm I don't think we had our exacts. But we didn't really change anything on the plans so it didn't matter for us. She just used the standard template plan and calculated from there. Have you changed much? I wouldn’t worry, the same thing happened to me. At the contract appointment everything was presented. It’s really easy to calculate the cost even if you don’t have the plans with you. Note to all attending the tile appointment… add 10% on top of your estimate for wastage. Re: Porter Davis homes 5906Aug 16, 2012 5:50 pm Team PD J & C Our fixing stage has started, not sure who at PD is deciding to fit what they want without our consultation. 1. We asked for a single pane fixed window, paid for it but they have fixed a split pane fixed window, spoke to the BC after sending number of emails to the SS. The SS only say we will fix everything prior to handover (have been hearing this line all the time from day one) 2. I have also noticed that someone at PD has decided to choose our ensuite basins and no one has informed us of this change. 3. Many electrical points missing...do we get a credit for this or should we get them to put the points. 4. Water gets logged on besides our slab, sent photo's to the SS said he would fix the drains, I don't think this has been fixed as yet as water is still getting logged...This I believe is serious as I learned that this can cause the slab to heave. 5. Wrong heating unit (SS said he will ensure we get the upgraded model we paid for) 6. Cracks on bricks. 7. Garage and laundry doors painted wrong colour. 8. Floor tiles look different from the sample we bought...were offered the "different batch excuse" There are many more issues...has anyone else encountered similar issues (Zinner your issues are far bigger than ours). When we first selected PD we expected nothing less than quality but its far from what we are getting. I am only hoping at handover they walk the talk. Hi J & C, I can understand that the issues you have outlined here are causing you stress. I'd like to help you find some resolution as quickly as possible. Are you able to send me a private message with your name and contact details so I can look into this for you? Regards, Helen Hi Helen, I spoke to our SS today and he has promised me that every single item that is incorrect or has defects will be replaced or fixed prior to handover. I don't want to make it difficult for the SS since he has agreed to address all the issues that have been highlighted to him. I will let you know if this does not happen. Can you postpone the appointment, its better to go there with the drawing as you will know what part of the house you'd be getting tiles and what part you will not be tiled, especially the wet areas. We never paid much attention and missed putting additional tiles in the shower area. Did you have your drawings at your tiles and colours appointments? Stressing out here....... Superdaddy.. same here...I had to do my Tile selections AND electricals AND Colours etc without my drawings.. had to go off the Standard Waldorf floor plan and they try to estimate the costs... will be close.... about 10-15% range of the actual figure Re: Porter Davis homes 5913Aug 16, 2012 10:01 pm cattycatcat We had our 3 month inspection on Monday... It wasn't much of an inspection.. The PD rep turned up. Asked me for a list of things I had noticed, wrote it down and left. He didn't bother inspecting anything and was done in 5 minutes. I was kind of disappointed to be honest. How has everyone else's 3 month inspection gone? Is this standard? I expected them to at least want to walk through the house and outside to check for defects. Sent from my iPhone so please excuse my spelling mist cakes Hi cattycatcat Thanks for your feedback on your 3 month inspection appointment. I can understand why you were surprised by the speediness of the appointment, 5 minutes does seem short! I'd be very happy to contact the New Home Care team and get your NHC Site Supervisor to give you a call and explain what he looked for and if he spotted anything. Just drop me a PM with the best way to contact you and I'll get back to you. Cheers, Helen. Porter Davis Homes Questions? Hi J&C I noticed your question and I wanted to reply on behalf of PD. I've spoken to our tile provider, National Tiles, and one of our Building Managers about sealing tiles with PD homes. Many tiles on the market today do not require sealing - only natural products do such as stone. They have both stressed that there is risk involved in sealing your tiles if it is not required, as it could change the colour of them. So proceed with caution if you're doing this yourself. If National Tiles recommends that a particular tile be sealed, we will recommend this to our customers. There is a charge for the sealant and the application which your BC can find out for you. Hope this information helps you. Cheers, Helen. Porter Davis Homes Questions? Thanks for the link. And LOVE your choice of front door....we have picked the same! It's good to see it up/hung to get an idea of size. I am paranoid about the safety of the pivot system and our toddler. But DH is in love with the size of it in the entry. His motto was "the bigger the better" when it came to choosing! Re: Porter Davis homes 5920Aug 18, 2012 11:11 am Had my selection of tiles yesterday. Even though NT didn't have our updated floor plans they still did a great job using the standard floor plans. The process was smooth, the coordinator was friendly and we finished the appointment early. *thumbs up* We kept our tiles the same colour everywhere throughout the house so made the selection process quick and simple.
