They are not good quality, took them with my phone and the case on it puts a black shadow on every photo, but they will have to do for now. When the flooring is finished, cooker installed, and lighting put up etc I will take some decent photos with my camera. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2187Jul 31, 2012 10:13 pm nugget Looks fantastic Novo, big congrats and make sure you dont ever get too much water on your bamboo flooring as it will swell and pop up. Did that happen because it has just been laid? Or will this always be the case with Bamboo flooring? (ie- when you spill water/liquids on it)? Novo - Looking good Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2188Jul 31, 2012 11:42 pm nugget Hi Everyone ,great to see everyone progressing.Unfortunatley we now have our bamboo flooring in our kitchen totally destroyed due to our dishwasher leaking all over it(we copped a faulty one),just in the prossess of m organising to have the floor replaced, first our theatre room carpet needed to be replaced due to a water leak now our kitchen, just really unlucky i guess to cop both in the first couple of months of moving in,truly hope it dosnt happen to anyone else. Ohh dear! Are you sure M sent plumbers? I remember about the theatre water leak and the carpet damaged, hope they replaced that already... Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2189Jul 31, 2012 11:44 pm dsa39 Hey vatche just checked out your blog nice! Thanks, The only carpet we have is the stairs, and yes, it was from Accent. Did that happen because it has just been laid? Or will this always be the case with Bamboo flooring? (ie- when you spill water/liquids on it)? Novo - Looking good With the bamboo flooring you can never have too much liquid on it as the moisture will make it swell,if you drop liquid on it you should wipe it up straight away.In our case i had put the dishwasher on just before we went to bed and woke up to water everywhere,so it had sat there all night and got under the flooring, thats what ruined it,your minor spills that you clean up wont do any damage. Not the plumbers fault this time and our theatre room was fixed within the 2 weeks as i had a 40th birthday party already organised. At the moment we are waiting on accent to come and quote the job for m.The only thing is they have to purchase the bamboo from the same company as we did as each company have different suppliers and the bamboo will differ from each one. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2193Aug 01, 2012 8:48 am dsa39 Hey Novo Congratulations That is such great news!!! Thanks for the bucket tip wouldnt have remotely thought about that Do they give you some type of checklist or do you just have to check everything from the top of your head? They don't give you a checklist at the start of your inspection but our SS asked us to look at the vanities and check the walls and kitchen cabinets etc. There is a list (of sorts) on the Practical Completion Inspection sheet which you will need to sign on the day of PCI. It states: "We have inspected the dwelling including the following items (where applicable): vanities, vanity basins, showers, baths, shower screens, mirrors, toilets, laundry tub, kitchen sink, windows and glass, kitchen and benchtops and have found no defects with the exception of the items listed below:" Our SS didn't show us this until after the inspection (when we signed the document). We had a great site supervisor so this was not a problem (he had in fact already identified all the problems on the items listed above before we arrived) but it may be worthwhile to take the above list with you to the inspection and check the items for yourself. Essentially, you are looking for scratches in the finishes of these items. Tradies can be rough and you will undoubtedly find that they have damaged some of these items. It is important that you identify this type of damage at PCI because there is very little chance of having them replaced after handover. Don't forget though that you are covered by statutory warranties in relation to "defects" so you shouldn't stress too much about finding structural defects at PCI (which is essentially a subjective inspection). I love so many things about it. It is such a family friendly design. I notice that you have the Jewel Titania tile in your bathrooms (which look fantastic by the way). I was supposed to have the same tile in the main bathroom (like you, we went with a black and white theme in this room) but the tiles that turned up were more brown than black and unfortunately it was the only stock in the country at the time. This was a huge problem for us because we needed to have the black feature walls to break up all the white. Fortunately Tile Direct gave us a massive discount on glass mosaics because there just weren't many "black" tiles to choose from. Your flooring looks great too. I can't get over though how different the family room looks after you have laid the floor, it just transforms the room. Looking forward to seeing the finished rooms. Geez that's bad luck nugget. Thanks for the heads up though. I was going to install our baumatic dishwasher in my parents-in-law's house (we already have a dishwasher for our kitchen) but I think I'll just sell it off on Gumtree now. The last thing I need is for it to burst in their house.
