Re: Dirt Help - Alfresco garden! 27Jul 31, 2012 12:40 am Using fertiliser is what would have made it the way it is. Me saying that is something that really gets up the nose of many fert companies and their marketing. The less you use those things to grow plants, the better your garden gets. Plants grow best when the microbes are fed instead of the lawn or plant. Fertiliser kills the microbes living on the roots. Then in extremes of temps/conditions the lawn turns to poo. Did I read somewhere that it's a good idea to burn them down to the roots at some time of the year so their natural ability to bounce back takes over and they grow back bigger and stronger? They seem to have their stems die off so I just cut when they die. Re: Dirt Help - Alfresco garden! 29Jul 31, 2012 1:07 pm We cut them back in March when our hottest weather is around.
