Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 52Jul 30, 2012 2:11 pm Hi, yes we dont have handles on our overheads, i love it, that kitchen just had sooo many handles! we have LED downlights and yes they are 10 times more expensive, but we got them for the power savings. in regards to brightness, i cant tell the difference between the led and halogen. we have 4 in the kitchen and 8 in our dining/family (even though ours is a bit different shape, i dont think you need more than 4 each area, and also depends if you use lamps in lounge areas) we are going thru decorator bug, we have placed our order 4 weeks ago, so i think we need to wait another 4. I did shop around a few places and theirs was around the same mark. it wasnt cheap, but not expensive compared to some others. definately worth a visit. Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 53Jul 31, 2012 9:36 pm Photo time! Hoping they actually work! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is our portico and alfresco tile. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is our splashback tile, it will be layed horizontally, with miminal grouting. It will be rectified also. It is a metre long tile, which looks amazing on display! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A little hard to see in photos, the large tile is our floor tile, it has a speckle through it and actually is slightly darker than in picture. The kitchen cupboards are in natural Oyster Linea, with the wall colour being Pelt and cornice and skirting in Parchment and Essatone benchtops on New Benzyatine. Very excited!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The brown tile was not in the standard range, not sure if it comes through but it has a diagonal movement through it. This will be our wraparound tile in the ensuite, very much like the Wild Orchid Diplay. The middle tile is our wall tile which will be layed vertically and tile on far right is our floor tile. We're having the same tiling in the main bathroom, minus the brown tile. The benchtops is New Cairo. I hope these links work! What does everyone think?? Amanda Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 54Aug 03, 2012 3:27 pm very nice! are you doing oyster linea in the bathrooms too? Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 55Aug 03, 2012 7:40 pm That is an amazing splashback tile, I don't think I've seen one a metre long before, how wide is it? I look forward to seeing them in your kitchen one day The rest of your selections look like they will go really well together, nice choices https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 56Aug 16, 2012 7:45 pm wildorchid are you doing oyster linea in the bathrooms too? WO, yes we are. It looks really different with the different type of essatone. dreamcometrue That is an amazing splashback tile, I don't think I've seen one a metre long before, how wide is it? I look forward to seeing them in your kitchen one day The rest of your selections look like they will go really well together, nice choices Thanks Dreamscometrue! It actually saved us ALOT, about $1200 which was a credit from splashback. Nearly six hours at Dechellis at Final Selections on Monday just gone. Wow, loads to go through. But feel so much better now. We had a little issue with Sampina, the girl who took our selections, her level of service unfortunatley was not great. To those building with Dechellis, the other selections places we visited, were amazing service. Gave us hints and tips an just went that extra mile. But all sorted now, we were able to correct/add things in the final selections appt. WO, in relation to the curtains quotes, we went to Flair curtians and Blinds and they were 2500 cheaper. Same fabrics, brands etc. Def pays to shop around! So all go from here! Just waiting on banks final docs and should be good to go or 18th September! Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 57Aug 16, 2012 8:04 pm Woo hoo!! Great news ... agree with your note about Sampina ... blooming hopeless - so frustrating ... can't wait to see another Dechellis build For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 58Sep 21, 2012 8:25 pm Hi everyone! It's been awhile... BUT we have dates yipee! Officially started on Tuesday 18th September, we have confirmation from Dechellis they are preparing the pad next Thursday 27th September, digging trenches the following Tuesday 2nd October and pouring slab on Monday 8th October! It's all happening! We have had massive drama with bank over the last week. They valued our build at $410k and when we added all of our extra quotes, curtains/electrical/tiling/shed/carpets/paving on top of the cost to build and paying out existing block loan, we would have needed to borrow approx $400k. The bank was not going to help us with the extra quotes due to the value of the build against the loan ratio, plus we put in approx $50k when we bought the block back in April. So the bank is covering the build only Plus we still had to pay mortgage insurance! I remember that mortgage insurance was only factored in when the LVR was 100% lend! Wow, things have changed, our lender told us that when the LVR is anywhere from 80%, there will be mortgage insurance. Which means we are now saving and budgeting for all the above extras instead of nice new furniture. It seems to be the common theme amongst our friends that are building at the moment, not a great deal we can do about it. I hope everyone is going well and your builds are going smoothly! Amanda Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 59Sep 22, 2012 3:27 pm Great news that your build is starting not so great about the finance problems though Our slab has now been poured and the frame is expected to start by the end of next week https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building the Wild Orchid by Dechellis 60Oct 03, 2012 12:05 pm Hi Everyone, my partner and I visited our block on Monday and saw the work below! http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj5 ... 010561.jpg It's so exciting to see it's all starting.
