They have a bit sale on at the moment, I will try go on Monday and have a look around! Im very nervous though I just realised looking at my big door that it goes right up to the wall. As in there will be nowhere for the curtains to hang that wont block off the door and get in the way!!!!! Is there anyway of getting them to only open to one side? Or would that be ridiculous? My old living room thread needs new help!!! 382Jun 16, 2012 11:13 am I wouldn't stress too much about the curtains being in the way. Sheers are quite light and once you've got them hung up (you can hang the rod right up to the wall and just have no spinal thing) it will look really good. You won't be able to get them to hang from one side as most likely you'll need a bracket in the middle so the rod doesn't warp. This is a pic of my laundry area where the sliding door takes up the whole wall and the rod is right up against the wall. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hope that helps a little! Re: Hey Guys! My old living room thread needs new help!!! 383Jun 16, 2012 11:46 am My thoughts on your room. Move the rug closer to the tv unit. Coffee table is fine where it is but the mat needs to be further out. TV put on stand on high part of white tv unit, or at least centred on the high side of unit. On the lower half I would put something tall and white. Maybe a few vases of different sizes or a large arangement with mostly white fowers but with a few purples in it. Blinds I would change to inside window with white net or similar style. I find the TV off putting centred on the wall. It makes the unit look wrong. My opinion only. I love the colour and your artwork. A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. Melbourne West Our build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34169 Landscaping viewtopic.php?f=19&t=51147 Re: Hey Guys! My old living room thread needs new help!!! 384Jun 16, 2012 12:38 pm Hi guys, Flagstaff: I agree, because they are light it shouldnt matter.. I was worried that it would get in the way but really it will be fine.. There also is limited walking space in that little area so I thought it might look bulky but they are called sheers for a reason I guess Kaytee: I agree about the rug but unfortunatley it is only just under the couch at the moment so moving it forward is not possible.. its not very large, something I really want to do is replace the current one for a larger one but other things a bit more of a priority to be done first. We used to have the tv on a stand but it looked really awful and I really hated it! I actually LOVE it how it is now! It is also not meant to be symetrical and I know thats not for everyone but yeah thats how it was intended and we love it! I also realised I like it with nothing on it as it really looks modern and clean and before it looked really cluttered and took away from the unit... See how I go when I change the feel of the room as to if I want to put something new on there! Moved In!!! Next up Landscaping! My old living room thread needs new help!!! 385Jun 18, 2012 4:41 pm I think you are complicating things ... take all of your cushions and other bits of colour out of the room - leave your rug, coffee table etc and then gradually add things - if they don't look right then don't use them. I think you may have too many colours - add lots of white with either a pelmet above your blinds or the sheers but have them open which will soften the room straight away (you don't need to close them) .. looking at the pictures you love I think it's just the hard lines you don't like .... don't just keep adding things. Hope that helps ... let us know how you go. Do what makes u feel good. I change mine all of rhe time, lol cushions can make a room feel completely different. Move them and try some different ones. Re: Hey Guys! Re: Hey Guys! My old living room thread needs new help!!! 388Jun 24, 2012 11:51 am Hey guys, So I havent posted any updates because Im sad about everything lol. I have been to spotlight twice lately and sadly it doesnt look like the sheers will be happening anytime soon The rods I would need to buy would either need to be custom made (more dollars than I am able to put towards it atm) or ordered online but I am too nervous to do that incase it doesnt work out... The left corner of the room may even need to be custom made into a corner rod thingo because there is no room for the rods to go in individually.. And the sheer material I found that I liked was $25 per metre which is more than I expected.. SO I am going to focus on painting the room as the first step, when Michelle is feeling more up to it hopefully her mood board will give me some ideas of which way to go.. I bought a white throw from target for $11.88 the other day, looked really weird and stark... so its now in my room.. Will post pics of the sheer material soon and maybe if u guys know elsewhere i could look to buy it? Moved In!!! Next up Landscaping! You will get it all together, you have really nice things allready, just need to work out what else you need. Looking forward to seeing your materials, my guy had some gorgeous sheer materials, he did my friends house, I picked the color it was a mocha color and he did the whole house for $800.00, but that was on rods and she didn't want them to open. The colors were beautiful he had in his collection. Re: Hey Guys! How did you go today? By the way, the 2 colours you have chosen are too similar, you need to have a contrast colour. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Recreating my Living room *Paint is becoming very Painfu 393Jul 04, 2012 8:14 pm I have some positive news to report today!!! So I went back today and showed the guy at the paint shop my sample pieces of pasterboard, he was very helpful and showed me how it actually is the right colour but depending on how much light was on it to how it looked.. I could kind of see what he was saying so I didn't bother arguing.. anyway he gave me another shot of colour in each so I could see how it looked in full strength.. for FREE I had actually told him not to bother with the Dulux Bleaches as I didn't think I liked it, but he said "may as well just incase" so I got home and painted them on - HUGE difference!!! And funnily enough Bleaches looked really good. But so did Subdue.. Subdue on Left and Bleaches on right Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Michelle, I dont have a Dulux Centre close by so I went back to the Paintex shop. Not sure exactly what you mean but the reason the colours I have chosen are so similar is because I have not decided what colour I will be using for all 3 walls yet. When I have decided that I will then chose a different colour feature wall to suit the chosen wall colours.. I'm still really unsure what colour to use, the Bleaches is a really nice, safe colour, the Subdue is really nice and obviously has alot of warmth in it, but I worry that in some lights it has alot of red showing up and I am not sure if that will be a problem or not.. So i painted a big bit in it.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So yeah that is where I am at, would love opinions on the two colours, I have considered maybe going and getting two or three more sample pots if I really need too.. It does look good!! Would you say when its on the walls it has alot of warmth in it? From my plasterboards I can see it has some, but because it is right next to Subdue which is REALLY warm, I get so confused... I may have to paint a bigger bit of plasterboard with it.. So how Im thinking now is Subdue has so much red in it I just dont think I could do it.. and I really do like Bleaches, but I'm not sure if that is a little too safe for the look I want to acheive.. I am thinking of getting 3 more sample pots; Dulux - Taupe White Dulux - Vanilla Quake Taubmans - Silkworm Moved In!!! Next up Landscaping!
