Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 04, 2012 9:18 pm I just wanted to see if anyone is having the same problems as us with the City of Cockburn. Our building Licence Application was received by them on the 29th Feb 2012 and we still havn't been approved. We have called many times and never called back. We have emailed with no response on numerious occassions and not one single word!! We just can't believe it no one will get back to us and its been 18 weeks since they got the application. The frustration of not being called or emailed back is very high. Our dream of building a new home that fits our 5 children is fading fast.... Re: Frustration at the City of Cockburn 2Jul 04, 2012 9:20 pm I'm not building there- but feel for your frustration. Did your builder indicate the timeframe that council usually takes? Built a Hawthorne 31 with EB nessjeffdreamhouse.blogspot.com.au Building an investment now with New Living homes... We are at nearly finished... Just landscaping and driveway to go! If they did it could have gotten lost by them or builder. http://masterview.cockburn.wa.gov.au/MasterViewUI/modules/ApplicationMaster/default.aspx?page=home Make sure you change it to building application to search Ours was lodged 8th march, we had request for more info (bushfire assessment) and it was sent out to builder 11th june so it seems strange yours is not done yet In saying that there are others having major issues with CoC... and they should be returning calls! Just because they are government doesn't mean they have to have bad service Jen Building with HomeGroupWA (started as Scott Park Homes ) - Grand Wisteria Check out my Build Thread!! Time line on P1. Re: Frustration at the City of Cockburn 7Jul 04, 2012 11:16 pm That doesn't sound good. They should return your telephone calls and emails. Try contacting the CEO and copy in all your correspondence (previous emails). After that contact the department of Local Government. Re: Frustration at the City of Cockburn 8Jul 05, 2012 11:47 am From an ex-council worker I would suggest making an appointment with your local councillor - they should be able to get it moving very quickily for you. Good luck! Re: Frustration at the City of Cockburn 9Jul 05, 2012 1:00 pm I'm in a very similar situation to you...we're at 16 weeks and still no approval. We've had a little bit more communication from them - however, this is mostly due to me calling and hassling every week. Hasn't seemed to make anything happen any faster though. Whereabouts in CoC are you building? Perhaps your delay is due to similar circumstances as ours - we're building along the freeway and there are lots of extra requirements the council needs to sign off, compared to a standard build. It's finally happening! I am unsure what transpired but we are just happy to have the licence. We are building on the freeway too so i guess it takes longer. Hopefully we were told they will begin in 3 weeks on site so i will focus on that now and put this long wait behind us. 1 62444 3 1849 |
