In my view there is no tangible reason for the request. It's all cost of doing the job. The builder wants me to take out the insurance. According to consumer affairs: "the builder gives you the domestic building insurance policy and certificate of currency that applies to your property". Does each builder take out seperate insurance for each job or is there a general insurance they take out each year to cover all jobs? Could it be this builder doesn't qulify for insurance? I will discuss this in full with the builder and let you all know. The Builder will take out the Builder Warranty Insurance and supply a certificate of currency - naturally this will increase his quote by around $1,300.00. I think the confusion was he becuae he says it has to be shown on the building contract and he didn't explain it correctly to me. So it looks like it all good. I am going to start another thread regarding variations in quotes!!!
