Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 10, 2006 4:00 pm Ceramic gloss tiles are a pain. Is there anyone that has any idea on how to avoid a sticky surface after mopping. The answer is firstly to have your tiled floors professionally cleaned to remove the build up of soiling and grime that invariably collects, along with residues from all your cleaning efforts. Jif should not be used as it is abrasive and will wear your floor. Next, you should adopt a good maintenance regime..... Use a suitable microfibre mop (dry) frequently to collect dust, crumbs etc. Another microfibre mop (more suited to wet mopping) should be used say once a week or whenever necessary. Use a clean ficrofibre with HOT water and a small amount of Aquamix Concentrated Tile Cleaner. (see www.Aquamix.com.au) This is a high quality product that when used as instructed, will not leave any sticky residue and keep your floor nice and clean. When mopping, don't get the floor too wet though, as this can cause slurry to collect in the grout lines wher it soaks in to the porous grout. Minimal moisture using microfibre technology is the answer. Good luck! Ash. No, I even have sections of narrowness where the tiles won't slide up any further.
