Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Is my door frame adequate 11Jun 17, 2012 2:26 pm amgsl55 Casa2 amgsl55 The door is 2400 x 920 with 3 large aluminum hinges. After a couple of emails I got a reply. They'll be on site this Wednesday to have a look. Three hinges are enough, so it's something else. The frame and door appears to have been installed true. I'm questioning the construction of the frame itself. The hinges are screwed onto what appears a " clipped on" piece which is what is flexing open. I hope there's an easy solution to this problem - we'll find out Wednesday. See my post above. It could be happening because the hinge is binding on the door, meaning the hinge is not fully closing. May be a screw head sticking out or the hinge is bent. All is fine when the door is shut/closing Re: Is my door frame adequate 14Jun 17, 2012 11:45 pm amgsl55 But the clip on piece is flexing open when the door is opened wide. One of our internal doors had a similar frame flex problem that disappeared when I readjusted the hinges. Re: Is my door frame adequate 15Jun 18, 2012 2:36 am Hi Amgsl55. The frame you have installed is indeed adequate for the door installed. It's a simple fix. If the hinges are binding or the weight of the door is causing the frame to unclip, the clip in door stop can be removed, and the glass pockets in the 2 frame sections screwed together (concealed under the clip in door stop) and the problem won't happen again. The reason it only happens when the door is open wide is the weight is pushing the 2 clipped sections apart, and when closed it naturally transfers the weight to push the sections back together. This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8233 Current door width is approx 2700, looking to have double doors fitted 820-820. What size does the frame need to be before door jamb? Thanks 0 3642 920 was enough to get the furniture in. We live in a pretty safe area and it’s great to see people walking to the front door. We’re not too fussed about people… 4 2526 |
