You need to remember these professions need to pay for the time they're not working as much as when they are. There's a good reasons long contracts bill out at lower rates to short ones, so you might always pay $500 for a half day of work. I don't think that the scarcity of work justifies why a client should pay for the time that an interior designer is not working. If that's the way many interior designers set up their business then it's easy to see why their work is scarce. Re: Would you hire an Interior Decorator? 11Jun 15, 2012 9:14 pm Yep will poss be getting one if i struggle putting the inside all together. But the designer we had supplied through our build was on another page or planet to what we like. Walked out of meet & said "that was a waste of time" Ended up working it out myself, drove everyone & myself crazy but i worked it out She liked white windows on limestone brick n black roof ,we were going earthy, rustic colours & style I think interior designers need to know fads, different styles & WHAT the customer likes. Not what the designer likes. So if you can do Country, cottage, sleek etc thats great! I vote for doing what you love,so go for it,you maybe fab at it & love everyday! Good luck. The sole reason is that the amount of time I save more than justifies the cost of the int designer. Mind you I didnt agree with all her suggestions and I was firm when i said no to what i disagreed with. A successful designer will work out what you want and make it palatable. Re: Would you hire an Interior Decorator? 13Jul 02, 2012 8:44 pm It is more about how you get on with other people. You should be very creative and full of ideas but you should also be able to sell your ideas to people. I have used the services of a decorator and if my budget allows it I would do it again and probably try to contact the same guy. I hope that helps Bought in Nov 21 at the height of the market (classic). Good area, atrocious floor plan.
