Browse Forums Building A New House Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2526May 06, 2012 6:48 pm good to see more people jumping on board this thread. the more the merrier i say. If oztish doesn't mind we can also rename this thread into Aurora, Lyndarum and Summerhill, considering how close these estates are to one another. Good to see all that work going on other side of Harvest Home Road. Just can't wait to see Edgars extended all the way to Cooper street to get connected with existing road network. would cut the travel time in half for people in this part of time during peak hours wouldn't it ? On related topic there is rumour going round that stage 12B is getting titled in the matter of couple of weeks. can anyone verify that at all. I have stopped believing everything that comes of people at aurora office long ago. they seem to be adamant its happening before june. has anyone got more info on that ? ashrey|^| Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2527May 07, 2012 9:12 am ashrey On related topic there is rumour going round that stage 12B is getting titled in the matter of couple of weeks. can anyone verify that at all. I have stopped believing everything that comes of people at aurora office long ago. they seem to be adamant its happening before june. has anyone got more info on that ? You meant 15B? The one along Edgars Road if that's what you meant. Those ones I have kept my eyes on them everyday, there was busy construction for about a month then became quiet around 2 weeks ago. The land surveyors had put the pegs in about a week ago. Last week was quite, no one works on the site. However, from what I can see, seems like all actual construction has been completed, trees have been planted. Some small parts of the land still have weeds to clean up and the lot number signs haven't been put up (not sure if this is going to happen as the short pegs in the ground have the lot number engraved). So yeah, looks like very close to be ready. Not sure if it's going to happen before June but June seems like the latest if it doesn't. Re: LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2528May 07, 2012 2:22 pm acherion You won't be able to do any port forwarding with an iPrimus-issued router in your cabinet, simply because you are locked out of access to the router and change any settings from the default – the default settings are no port forwarding at all. This includes using the DMZ. If you have an iiNet connection you can set this up, as you have access to your BoB admin panel via your web browser (or if you have your own router you can do it yourself). Thank you cmhamilton acherion for your reply .Acherion you think with iinet I can do port forward !! No one call back from aurora IT help desk and seems like they won't call. thank you guys LYNDARUM / AURORA ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2529May 07, 2012 8:45 pm Eppingnorth Acherion you think with iinet I can do port forward !! I don't have a BoB, but am connected to iiNet and have the ability to port forward. No worries, will try and change it Re: LYNDARUM/AURORA/SUMMERHILL ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2531May 08, 2012 4:06 pm I don't know if it's officially open or not, but the land developers have gotten rid of the construction fencing around the new Edgar's Creek reserve, now making it accesible for residents to use the park, and it's facilities. They have done a good job! As as I said, I don't know if it's 100% completed, but the pocket near my house is completed, but I don't know whether the rest is. I just have a quick question in relation to internet, I know I have been reading alot of you are having issues with speeds etc through the fibre optic providers - is this the same case if you chose to go wireless rather than through the fibre optics? My computer knowledge is very basic so any advice would be greatly appreciated Re: LYNDARUM/AURORA/SUMMERHILL ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2534May 09, 2012 9:53 am Eppingnorth Rio15 I don't know if it's officially open or not, but the land developers have gotten rid of the construction fencing around the new Edgar's Creek reserve, now making it accesible for residents to use the park, and it's facilities. I just have a quick question in relation to internet, I know I have been reading alot of you are having issues with speeds etc through the fibre optic providers - is this the same case if you chose to go wireless rather than through the fibre optics? My computer knowledge is very basic so any advice would be greatly appreciated I'll try to answer your question without too much technical jargon. If you don't understand something, yell out The answer to this question really stems from what you consider to be wireless. Each home in the estate has access to the fibre optic network. You can choose to not have your house hooked up to the network in terms of internet (I think they still hook your house up to fibre optic for the TV signal as it is not allowed to have any antennas on your roof) but then the only other form of internet connection would be mobile 3G – ie. Telstra, Vodafone or Optus 3G internet that you can get on your mobile phone, and your computer too if you have a 3G USB adapter, for example. 3G internet is not considered to be wireless - sure, it doesn't use wires, but wireless in technology circles generally refers to WiFi networks. WiFi in your house is just another way to connect your computer to your modem (or other computers or devices) and does not dictate whether you have internet or not. Generally, it replaces what's called Ethernet connections, you might see in an office of computers that there are these thick blue cables coming out of computers and hooking up to a modem or a port in the wall. Basically, although WiFi can be utilised with an internet connection, they are not the same thing. You can have a WiFi network without any internet connection (you will just only be able to see other computers in the same network / house), and you can have an internet connection without WiFi / wireless (you'll just need those blue cables coming out of your computer). They can work in conjunction with each other, or separately. If by wireless you are really meaning 3G connectivity, the fibre optic connection wins hands-down. It is cheaper per month, you get much higher speeds, higher reliability and much more internet bandwidth quota to use per month. With a 3G connection, you are paying more to have much less bandwidth quota, it has higher latency (it takes longer for you to arrive at a website) and speeds fluctuate much more than with a fibre connection. Hope that answers your questions, feel free to ask more if needed. Re: LYNDARUM/AURORA/SUMMERHILL ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2536May 09, 2012 4:44 pm Hi acherion , Wow thank you so much for that. It's has definately cleared it up a bit for me that's for sure. I had been on here reading about people having slow internet problems etc so wasn't sure if it was worth looking into the fibre optics or not. Re: LYNDARUM/AURORA/SUMMERHILL ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2537May 09, 2012 10:55 pm Can anyone recommend a good local GP? Not looking for a clinic but a single GP that will actually spend time with their patients. Not fussed about bulk billing. Thanks. LYNDARUM/AURORA/SUMMERHILL ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2538May 11, 2012 7:06 am Crafty45 Hi acherion , Wow thank you so much for that. It's has definately cleared it up a bit for me that's for sure. I had been on here reading about people having slow internet problems etc so wasn't sure if it was worth looking into the fibre optics or not. The complaints about slow Internet mainly came from people who were on the old fibre network (people in stages 1 - 7), this network was run by a company called Arise, who do not service the estate anymore. Since their exit, all those people with a connection to Arise were migrated over to the new network which has support for multiple ISPs (only two for now though) and the speeds and reliability has increased greatly since then. Re: LYNDARUM/AURORA/SUMMERHILL ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2539May 11, 2012 5:52 pm Exactly as Acerhion said, we were with Arise last year, and the difference in speeds and reliability of the network have improved significantly! Much happier now that Arise is gone! Re: LYNDARUM/AURORA/SUMMERHILL ESTATES: Epping, Victoria 2540May 15, 2012 2:26 pm Hi all . I am building on Edgars Road .
