Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 723Apr 25, 2012 9:49 pm Why don't they like the vanities & shower? Our ensuite shower isn't double but it is larger than normal-well worth the extra $200 so that my butt doesn't touch the glass when I bend over to wash my feet! The double vanity is a godsend as it has settled more than 20years of DH denying liability for the mess on the basin-now that we have his & hers basins the truth is out! We also have a professional horse racing establishment just around the corner-so I get to gaze at the thoroughbreds when I go past...and then there's the herd of deer someone has on their property halfway into town... Dee's right. . . I think they're jealous. Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 726Apr 25, 2012 9:55 pm Deemaree I do live in the country though jodge! We also have a professional horse racing establishment just around the corner-so I get to gaze at the thoroughbreds when I go past...and then there's the herd of deer someone has on their property halfway into town... YOU JUST CAN'T HELP YOURSELF, CAN YOU? I think it's fantastic that you have all that wildlife. . .we get lots of rabbits, the old kangaroo, foxes, turtles, frogs. . . and we saw a deer bolting over the road once too. .. that was a sight to behold. . . no idea where it came from! okjorg. . . is this why you're having doubts about the double shower and double vanity? HAHAHAHA! If it were me, it would be all the more reason to have them! Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 727Apr 25, 2012 9:58 pm That bonfire wasn't quite out..... We CONSTANTLY had certain family members telling us how lucky we were to be building again...eventually I cracked the poo-s and said " We are NOT lucky, we have worked hard, went without for years, didn't have holidays, brought up our kids with no family help-so I don't consider us lucky, I consider that we are getting what we worked bl@@dy hard for!" (I don't get any cleaner......) And YES...... I am worried about what the olds will think....... We are trying to be sensible but we do also like getting carried away!! Isn't that half the fun of building!!!??? Are we all stuck on my bathrooms???? Or am I confusing everyone????? ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 730Apr 25, 2012 10:12 pm oh dear. ~ okjorg viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55196&p=844089#p844089 Settlement date - 13 Jan Final plans - 24 Sept Council approval - 21 Oct First peg in the ground - 7 Nov Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 731Apr 25, 2012 10:17 pm Alrighty. . . you know what? I think it's time to do a bit of research and go through the things that are worrying you, one by one. There are a lot of things that you may as well get the double, because it only costs about 20% more than the single. Re: Queenslanders building our first house!!!! 732Apr 25, 2012 10:21 pm Haha, I just think I've used up all of my creativity for the day. Maybe I've been trying to come up with something too super-special. hmmmm. I think I'm going to take a look at some google images and see if anything jumps out at me. I did, however. . . paint Phil's newly built workbench, and stripped some varnish off a couple of bits of furniture I'm going to paint. . . hurrah! Yay me! Just got an email back from the NBN giving me no joy as well... I wanted to do a petition going to get BB in the estate however Telstra Countrywide told me that we'd have to go in individually and express an interest in writing with a signature... Our backyard isn't all that big however our front yard is massive. Built up the back of the block to take advantage of the flat top and seabreezes.
