Coral were very accommodating with our modifications, although our initial sales person couldn't see that it was just modified and thought it was a custom plan! (So, make sure you choose your sales person carefully). I was a little concerned that the pricing would be out of control, due to the changes, but it was fine. My only other advice would be to take in one of their standard plans, yours looks quite similar to a Marcoola, and make the comparisons to what you have created. Good luck! Re: Maybe Building a Coral Home 5Apr 15, 2012 9:20 pm jenm Also if anyone has any reccommendations of where doors and windows would go or or what type of doors/windows would be greatly appreciated. Hi Jen - absolute rule of thumb is windows to the north and locate living areas on the north. Try to avoid windows on the West. btw, I have family at Suffolk, Tintenbar and Nimbin. Sounds like you are close? If you want more info on house design / orientation and windows, check out this thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55057 You can save heaps on heating / cooling with the right location of windows. We do want to get the windows and doors right - especially the back room too so it's not too hot. The sun hits in the afternoon where the back laundry would be which is why in our plan we put the bathroom and laundry in that spot. We want to keep the place as cool as we can as it's better to put on a jumper than to always need the airconditioners on. That back room next to the laundry is our latest concern, to have as a room/to have as an open study/to have as just one big open area(though we do want the big wardrobe in there for storage). The thing that may make up our minds is the sun and how we figure to put a back door there, if it's sliding or a single door. Got so much investigating to do. Were building pretty much right near those suburbs you have listed, very close indeed. When we get to go to Coral will definitly be looking at their plans - especially the Marcoola, Maddan as we agree with you, the less changes, the less they think it's a made up design the more we may save in the long run. Thanks for your replies and we'll hopefully be able to work out soemthing soon. Have a great Monday everybody. Jen J&J Building our Home on The Coast. Re: Building a Home- hopefully really soon 7Apr 16, 2012 3:54 pm Hi All, After looking into a bit further have found maybe our design is close to a noosa, haha maybe a noosa marcoola combined / cross. We'll definitly have to keep looking as there seems to be quiet a few builders around at the moment. Let's just hope there approachable and are willing to discuss options. Re: Maybe Building a Coral Home 8Apr 19, 2012 11:54 am Hi everyone, we have finally paid our first deposit for soil testing etc. getting very excited. We are building the Daydream 32 the new version. Anyone else building this?? Im really looking forward to going through everyones experience and starting my own. But why must this initial process take sooooooooo long??? I just want to start decorating, mean while my husband is stressing about site cost (Boring ) I have recently joined pintrest on facebook and have found loads of insperation on home ideas. Anyway i hope to be posting a progress report sooner then later Re: Maybe Building a Coral Home 9Apr 19, 2012 12:04 pm jenm Hi All, Well after a fair bit of reading I have decided to finally start a thread and see if there's anyone out there who can offer suggestions, a little bit of advice or tell me i'm on the wrong/hopefully right track. My husband and I have a corner block, on the far Nth Coast of NSW, and are in the process of putting together a plan we like that will fit the block. The biggest thing for us is we want the garage/driveway round the corner from the front so can drive in flat and where the view is on the front we would like a main family room. As none of the plans really suit we are doing one up which we really like. Please can any one let me know how to post photos so can show you what we have so far. Thanks and will post more info/photos soon. Jen Hey Jen, Its not a Coral home but i remember seeing a good design for your block, although its a 2 story http://www.sekisuihouse.com.au/SekisuiH ... 4&ext=.jpg im not sure it this link will work, its a Sekisui house the Atrium - we were very close to going with this design but have decided to build with Coral homes. hope it helps - even if you base your new design on some features Wendy Re: Maybe Building a Coral Home 10May 05, 2012 11:40 pm Hi Jen! Welcome to the forum - I'm rather new around here too but have found it very helpful so far. We're building with Coral in Brisbane and have been very happy so far. We drove out to Toowoomba in the early stages as they had the facade we wanted on the Daydream display out there. Daydream is a great plan. We have just had our site start a week ago and our slab is due to go down this coming week. If you have a look at my blog, you will see that from the date we viewed the display home to the date we started on site was about 8 months which is a little longer than standard from what I can tell but we were picky and had some problems with our first tender and covenant on our land. Em Re: Maybe Building a Coral Home 11Jun 18, 2012 9:52 pm We're building a modified Marcoola 30, slab down hopefully this week! See blog in sig. I was very excited to see your post to see you are just getting started with your Daydream 32. I look forward to watching your progress & experiences. I see a few of the homeone members have building blogs as well. Are you going to Blog your experience? If so I would be interested in following. Cheers. Re: Building a Home- hopefully really soon 13Oct 18, 2012 8:08 pm Oh and we found on someones forum they had this Kitchen. We think it will suit what where after better than the on the plan so hope when we go into Coral they can incorporate this somehow. So to whomever it was months ago that I copiedthis from thank you we like your idea - we will put our own colours in but love the layout. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Does anyone think this type of a kitchen would work or would you recommned something different. Thanks Jen J&J Building our Home on The Coast. Re: Building a Home- Hopefully really soon 14Jan 06, 2013 12:39 pm Hi All, This is now what we've come up with. Finally, yay, a design which incorporates everything we want whilst still leaving enough room on our block to do what we like with later down the track. Coral staff have been really good helping modify designs to suit. Uploaded with ImageShack.us If anyone has got any opinions please share as we would really like as much input as we can get. Now all we need is our current house to sell and they can begin. In the mean time I continue to watch the other threads. Jen J&J Building our Home on The Coast. Re: Building a Home- hopefully really soon 15Dec 22, 2013 11:18 am Hi Jenm, Just noticed your thread. I really like the kitchen layout and also the separation between living are and bedrooms (similar as our layout). How did you go with the building after that? Re: Building a Home- hopefully really soon 16Dec 22, 2013 5:36 pm Hi, we are currently only at tender stage. Due to cost the plans changed a little but kitchen the same. Till we have the house built don't really have net access except on my phone so can't quiet share the updated plans. As always I provide updates when I can, but for now I mostly just hover and search around. J&J Building our Home on The Coast.
