I am in the new part of Laurimar we r lucky as we have Velocity with Telstra. In some parts they r waiting on ports. Re: Wallara Waters/Wallan 344Apr 14, 2012 6:46 pm In stage 7 we have nbn. This is from stage 5 onwards Building The Harvard 271 With Dennis Family Homes My Blog http://www.ourhouseinwallan.blogspot.com My Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51625&p=789135#p7891353 Re: Wallara Waters/Wallan 345Apr 14, 2012 7:20 pm The NBN rollout map shows that stages 6 and 7 are scheduled for NBN fibre shellbelle - for anyone in stage 5 you'd want to confirm that stage 5 is included as well (both with Australand and NBNCo as it's not a given that they will be on the same page). Telstra is connecting our home phone the Monday after we move in. They seem to think that once the phone line is in there might just be the chance that there could possibly be a free connection. Either way we will have a land line which means when a free port does become available we can be connected straight away. Kinda wish we were in a later stage so we could be on the NBN. Sadly most developers just let the provider of last resort, previously Telstra install their cables for free, but can't do anything about available services! I did some googling, not sure how accurate it is but Wallan exchange appears to have Ports free, so hopefully your phone line will be upto scratch! 2 Re: Wallara Waters/Wallan 348Apr 15, 2012 7:37 am I probably should have reposted this one as well: cmhamilton 3. This is where the fun will begin - I presume Telstra has sorted out pit-and-pipe infrastructure and maybe the cabling for your stage, but I doubt you'll be getting NBN at the moment like stages 6 and 7 unless Australand is doing somthing about getting earlier stages hooked up as well. If that is not the case then it'll be ADSL for you guys if it is anything. The problem there is that part of Wallan is serviced by RIM's and WW may also be serviced by a RIM - right now there doesn't seem to be any ports free on any of the nearby ones and I'm not sure if there'll be any ports free on the main exchange - this may mean that you'll be working off wireless for a while. I've just done a bit more digging and it appears that there may be some ports available after all: http://telstrawholesale.com.au/download ... slex03.xls They aren't showing up on adsl2exchanges.com.au though: http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewex ... 35a50f019# You'll just have to wait until you get your phone connected catty before you can see if any ports are available. We've been out to Wallan a few times now, and are really drawn to the area. Finances will be tight to get what we want, but we think we should scrape through (non-genuine savings as deposit). We are planning to build the sFive.2 through Eight Homes (parent company Urban Edge). We are planning on it being our 'forever home', so a bit of planning is going into it. Unfortunately we don't have much money to throw at 'extras', so will have to put some things on the 'to be upgraded later' list! How have you found teleco services? In particular internet? DH works quite a bit from home, and needs access to reliable internet. We are currently in Craigieburn, and it is a pathetic dead spot for getting ADSL, so the wireless network is completely choked at peak times. Very inconvenient when you are trying to earn a living! We are lot 725 so will be just up the road from you. We hope to start building soon. Welcome also bubblynutter. Stages 6 onwards have NBN so you should be ok with the internet. We have arranged for our house to be pre-wired for NBN so we just need to be hooked up when it's completed. I suppose that's when we will find out how good it is, lol. |
