Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 10, 2012 9:21 pm we have been reading these forums for over a year now and today our SS called us about our start date for the build. Then he told us that there has been at least 20 truck loads of soil dumped on our site and that we cant start until its removed. We are building on the estuary estate in leopold. Does anyone have any information on how we go about finding out who put it there and have them remove it? we go to see it for ourselves tomorrow, obviously the builders around us or the villawood people have dumped it unless JG King have dumped it as a delaying technique. what do we do? Re: soil dumping! 2Apr 11, 2012 9:53 am Cookieboc, Im currently building in the Estuary as well. What area are you building?? I would speak to Alan in the land sales office, he may be able to offer some advice or have more information on the owner of the block. Alternatively, the block next door might have excavated and used your block as a temp dumping ground. Hopefully they have signage up and you will be able to call them directly. Re: soil dumping! 3Apr 11, 2012 10:54 am 20 truck loads!? That's a lot of dirt - are you sure he isn't exaggerating? You're talking almost 900 cubes of dirt there - think about that for a minute - that's a 9 meter wide, 9 meter deep, 9 meter high(!) cube. And then a bit. It's a pile almost as high as a power pole, or very vastly spread out. Did your neighbours build a house, or a missile silo with an underground bunker? Anyway, as said, best way is find out who put it there. Failing that, if it's clean fill it will be easy to dispose of, but the tests to prove that will be costly (About 3-5k for that kind of volume.) Building a Delta 21 at Craigieburn - http://homeofzero.blogspot.com.au/ Deposit: 26/02. Contract: 22/05. Settlement: 29/05. Site start: 18/10. Re: soil dumping! 4Apr 11, 2012 3:03 pm I would go in this order. 1. Look for tire tracks 2. Look for debris amongst the dirt that might match another location 3. Ring every builder nearby until you find the right one. You can open with "We found a big pile of dirt on our block, and we think it's from your site". If you called the wrong one you will sort it out soon enough, and they may even help you find who did it. Metricon Riva 33 - http://herlihy-riva.blogspot.com Site start 15/03/2010 - Handover 23/12/2010 9 months and 8 days (284 calendar days) from site start to handover soil dumping! 5Apr 11, 2012 7:17 pm It's probably unlikely you will find out who dumped it... Perhaps put a sign up saying free fill, people pay alot of money for fill and would be happy to take it off your hands! Re: soil dumping! 6Apr 12, 2012 9:40 pm thanks heaps for the response guys!! we have had a very stressful couple of days trying to find out where the soil came from. But tonight we got the call to say a builder has dumped the soil from 4 or 5 different sites on our land thinking that we were building with them as our 2 neighbours. It was being removed as of this afternoon. thank god as we did not know how we were going to remove 20 truck loads of soil! coldecol we are building in section 4 how about you? I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13106 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37157 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair I'm in WA and our sandy soils make drainage a bit easier but this is what I'd be doing. Dig down to your footings and let the wall dry out. Clean it all well by brushing… 1 5197 |
