Out of interest I did a quick calculation and a 1500 door with 17 bricks and a 11.5mm joint works perfect. I then walked to my laundry door and this is exactly what my brickie has done. As for the smaller windows you are correct in saying its accepted practice, in all honesty would you be happy with that 4 1/2 brick sill? At least put the cut in the middle to even it up. Ugly is not a defect, but them sills were just thrown in with no thought given to where the cut should go. I've seen plenty of flush struck mortar jobs, never seen anything as grubby as that job. The lazy thinking with the sills and the tardy finsh go hand in hand IMO. Re: Brick work under window sills 14Apr 04, 2012 2:58 pm smart1 seriously dude your focus on the insignificant is mind numbing I call it attention to detail, I guess it's the difference between someone who still cares a bit about there trade or someone who just turns up and does a job. I guess your the latter. Re: Brick work under window sills 15Apr 04, 2012 4:05 pm I'd be annoyed about it tbh. I don't think it would've been that much more effort to put it in the middle or two smaller ones on each end. If it was even required in the first place. smart1, you're unnecessarily rude and condescending.
