Thanks Mclaren, I am moving more of our stuff up tommorow so it will really begin to feel like home then. It is strange to start unpacking possesions that have been in storage for so long, I had forgoten that we owned a lot of it, it's just like christmas

Yes that is so true, but artworks, cookware, books and music just make life so much nicer

Just stunning! Exactly what DH (Jack of all trades, master of none) and I will be doing when all the kids have grown up and left home. We will sell up, travel for 1 yr then buy land up in the hills and owner build. Your such an insperation!!!! Cant wait to see more pics!

Steve - hope the move in went well. Can I ask if you made the dining table - I'd like my hubby to make something similar but skinnier for our hall table and wondered how you sourced the wood etc. Thanks Annette

MissyP, Thanks you so much for such a lovely compliment, I am glad you like it, there is much more to come yet so I hope you stay tuned for further installments.

Annette, I had a local furniture maker build it for me as I was running out of energy and would not have done such a great job of it. We got the timber from a shed that was demolished locally, 3.6m x 100 x 240 spotted gum floor joists, this time round they have a little more glamour

This is who kindly made the table for us.

Nick at Timber Trip uses recycled timbers for all his work, so it is 'normal' for him, that obviously suited our needs, he is good craftsman and I love his work.

Thanks for the lovely feedback. I am about to get the tools back out again soon and start some building again now Christmas is out of the way. I have gone back to full time work so I am not sure how I will go , I am pretty inspired to press on with the next pavilion this year though

Can you take as long as you like to owner build over there. in WA I think it's 2 year max from start to finish?

Barker, yep some progress but the new job is eating most of my time, I will get onto posting some pics and a bit of an update soon.

Howie, the time limit is on starting the project in NSW (2 years to start) but I do not think there is a sunset date ( I may be wrong but an extension would be probable, we are getting interim occupation certificates as we go so we can occupy.

I'm a bit confused how you can get a occupancy certificate if you don't have a bedroom ?

I even got an intrim ocupation cert for my carport when it was done, it just means that that section of the build is approved for use.

How does the interim occupation certificate work ?

My guess is that you can live in that pavilion (put a sofa bed in there to sleep) as it is structurally sound. Then as the other pavilions are built you move across.

My understanding of the Interim Occupation Certificate is that you need laundry, kitchen and bathroom only.
Basically a studio apartment.
So you can get away with a microwave, toilet, shower, washing machine and sink as an absolute minimum.

Have the secondary pavilions progressed at all?
