Re: tapware - what is a reasonable price? 2Mar 23, 2012 1:53 pm To get an honest opinion on tapware you'd need to speak to a plumber (without a vested interest) or go to a plumbing supplier ... I think taps are over-priced when you get them through your builder .. we were looking at some the other day in one of the hardware stores and they seemed quite cheap ... Can't tell you how much our taps were as the price was included in our "as displayed" costings but we have a Hansa mixer in the kitchen which was just replaced as the batch we had was very stiff and was recalled, we have Vivid basin mixers in the vanities and they work really well, a Virtu design bath spout in the bathroom and a Dorf Stylus mixer in the laundry which is fairly basic but works well. Hope that helps ... For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: tapware - what is a reasonable price? 3Mar 23, 2012 2:04 pm I live by this rule... If you can afford to buy something and you are happy to pay the price you get it for, then it is a reasonable price. That said, I agree with McLaren, speak to a plumber and see what they recommend Re: tapware - what is a reasonable price? 4Mar 23, 2012 2:35 pm we went to a plumbing outlet and I told them I wanted to outfit a new house and wanted the best deal I could get. I actually did this twice, as one place (beginning with R) I discovered actually bumped up some prices from the display cost! I got so annoyed, went somewhere else and yes I had to repick different things, but saved over $1000 I saved $75 on the laundry torugh alone - and that was an identical item. I have gone different brands for things, but love my kitchen mixer called Linea Elegance and got it for $227.34. Our saleslady was really helpful. I told her we wanted quality and she steered us away from dearer choices at times to stick to this Re: tapware - what is a reasonable price? 5Mar 23, 2012 2:42 pm greenfish love my kitchen mixer called Linea Elegance and got it for $227.34. Re: tapware - what is a reasonable price? 7Mar 23, 2012 3:19 pm We do love it but the first one we had was very stiff and apparently it was a dud batch so we have just had the tap changed (only 6 months after handover) ... and it works just fine now ... very happy with it.
