I don't know how they get away with it. That was our feeling as well. We didn't give the go-ahead to the guy, said we'd let him know later this week. We were just wondering if this is normal for residential builders. ![]() Yeah, I wouldn't be paying for a quote, not in the "shopping around" stage. They do charge for the preparation of plans, but, I had chosen my builder by this stage and the deposit was actually used for my PPA. We're paying for plans from a designer already, including full set of construction drawings. Seriously, the builder just has to price it up from some very detailed plans that have already been done.
