Browse Forums Building A New House Re: RedInk Perth Newbie - PCI booked yay!! 223Feb 27, 2012 11:38 am Leona, Have you bought or looked at downlights? Are you planning on any LEDS.. if so what are your thoughts.. where to buy, what to get etc? And any electricians to recommend? I've only been to Beacon so far and they only carry MR16 (ie LED with transformers)... was thinking the GU10 would be less cumbersome (no transformer). Any thoughts? We will just stick with the globes for now, have other things to do first, the lights/fittings for us is a lesser priority! As for the flooring we went with harmony, u can only get it at carpet choice, it is stunning and 25 yr guarantee, the type we chose is artisan, it's textured like wood and feels like it under foot and looks amazingly like it without the maintenance, it's roughly 60-70 sqm installed and is direct stick I'd suggest going to carpet court and having a look, the guys in midvale are sensational and really know their product, and they have a LOT to choose from!! Tell em I sent ya! Meanwhile went past this morning, all the taps/mixers are going in and there was a team there cleaning up, looking so good I think the paving gets done tomorrow then doorframes painted and aircon to be installed then just last bits and bobs and it's nearly good to go, we have organized to have an open door so we can get in this long weekend and will have the entire house painted before the floors go down early next week, full steam ahead, now to start cleaning up this place and packing boxes, we should have keys week after next!! Emptied the spa yesterday and will clean that today, then might pour the concrete also this weekend for it to sit on, gonna be a major dog to move, 2.5x4m and 700kg weight, I recall it not being fun to install in the first place, but if we can have it in and ready when we move it will be lovely to have a soak on the big day!! Can u tell I'm getting a little excited?? Took this pic this morning, I love my roof!!! So let me get this straight.. they allowed you to have the painting and flooring done even before handover? Thats nice! Thought we had to wait for handover of keys to proceed with external contractors! July 2011 Signed up with Redink Sep 2011 Titles for Land Dec 2011 Plans approved by council 30 Jan 2012 SLABBED! Our SS is a top bloke! Needless to say there will be a few bevvys of his choice left for him at the end of it all for doing such a great job Tink, hubby sealed the house in 2 days over the Xmas break so we figure with us 2, and a few friends we would put on drinks, lunch, music and have a painting party!! On Friday we will buy the paint, on Saturday I plan on doing all of the cutting in then Sunday we have our friends and family coming to help!! HOPEFULLY it will all get knocked off in the one day, the reason I want to do all of the cutting in is 1, so they know what colours go where, and 2, I don't know how particular they are and I don't like stuff ups so if I give them little margin for stuff up all should be good!! And the taps have all been finished today, HOWEVER they have installed the rail on the wrong side of the outlet on BOTH ends, this wouldn't bother me too much but the rail is imposing on my beautiful feature tiles as seen here... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Need advice, do we make them move it to the other side or should we consider it an added feature to the feature tiles?? Hi, formica looks great, try www.equityrenovations.com.au - the guy Andrew can order and custom fit these for you. He does kitchens and bathrooms, excellent workmanship Re: RedInk Perth Newbie - PCI booked yay!! 232Feb 28, 2012 6:18 pm I think the shower rail looks great lined up on the feature tiles! RedInk Perth Newbie - PCI booked yay!! 240Mar 02, 2012 9:16 am All went well, no issues!! A few finishing off things that SS had already written down! paving getting done today (guy didn't show up yesterday) Aircon next week Site cleanup next week Buying about 40 liters of paint today! Monday week floors are booked (gonna take em 3-4 days) Bitumen for driveway booked as well (for those of u who don't know our driveway is 40m) Once they have done site cleanup we will pour the concrete pad for the spa and have 1m wide path right around the house (will eventually tile over the top of this) Then do colorbond fences (close to 80m) ouch!! And double gate at the front Then moving in time!!!! Once we are in we will do the LED lighting and ceiling fans as we gather the funds, but for now it will just be the one globe per room And after that is done we will get the overhead cupboards in the kitchen and laundry and the pull out fittings for the kitchen base cabinets So all go!! Plan on moving in on 15th march, see how we go!! Meanwhile I'll get a stack of pics this weekend as the painting gets done, we have a painting party tomorrow with family and friends coming to help out, then on Sunday we have a "cashie" painter coming to do any touch up work and finishing what wasn't done tomorrow! The good thing is other than the kids rooms every wall in the house will be the same colour, Berger Valais We did a swatch last weekend and it looks lovely, once we are in and furnished we will start with feature walls, going to wallpaper our bedroom Got a BARGAIN yesterday, textile traders have a 1/2 price sale on ALL ready to hang curtains and blinds I got block out roller blinds for the kids rooms, theatre windows, and curtain tracks for parents retreat, master bedroom glass door, and alfresco door, I went with the hand pull ones rather than the cord ones as we seldom use the cords here anyways!! So for all this it cost $230!!! I will get the curtains for the tracks tomorrow morning, they have some lovely ones and these are also 1/2 price!! So it's all go now Will add pics tomorrow night!!
