Browse Forums Building A New House Re: The building begins....**updated** 14Jul 17, 2008 11:50 am Thats great D@n, unfortunately the whole front has to be rendered, including the feature wall.
Not sure if I like the grey in the second one though as every 4th house has grey. Paula was thinking about Jasper, seeing as our roof is a dark brown, but unfortunately that coulour has been 'done to death' here as well... and I wanted something a little different to everybody else's house. Will have a better look at pics, (and show DH) later... are taking the kids to scitech today, nearly 2 weeks being at home and I think they are ready to explode from boredom..... glad the holidays are nearly over! Re: The building begins....**updated** 15Jul 20, 2008 4:06 am We went to the home ideas place, and I found some colourbond samples, for the gutter, fascia and garage door. After checking it against the tile we came up with these colours that we liked: Dune, windspray, bushland, jasper and woodland grey. I did a couple of photoshops with our preferred colours (they look different on my screen to the samples, but the hex # are right).
Firstly the front...havent a clue about the front door though. It will be a painted dble door, no glass panels. Pic #1 colours are-- gutters/fascia: windspray, Garage door/feature render: bushland, rest of render: dune http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/jericoholicau/paintedhouse2.jpg pic#2 gutters fascia: woodland grey, Garage/feature render: jaspar , rest of render: dune http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/jericoholicau/paintedhouse3.jpg This is the side, for the bricks and roof, I made the roof a dark brown, as thats the colour that it looks like. The other colouring is the same as in pic1 http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/jericoholicau/paintedhouse.jpg So my questions are: will the bushland show up too green? Will #2 end up making the front of the house too dark? should the gutters be changed to windspray, in pic #2? What about a door colour? Any other colour suggestions and advice is muchly appreciated. The builder uses solver paint if that helps All these colours need to be made by Thursday morning before we go to pre-start. (The roof is the same colour in all the pictures, but last one seems a lot darker...... ) Re: The building begins....**updated** 16Jul 20, 2008 9:38 am Personally I like No 2.
Im a big jasper fan, we have it on our house and I am having a shed made in it. It is a warm colour. As for yoour front door - I think Jasper would be too much, are you game enough to go red? Paula Re: The building begins....**updated** 18Jul 20, 2008 1:26 pm I prefer no. 1. But on my screen the bushland looks really green. (more like Wilderness from the colour bond chart).
If you're worried about going too dark, what about going the lighter colour on the garage door and the feature wall as they are the blocks of colour. Or matching the garage door to the fascia and guttering and having the feature wall as a stand alone bold colour. Just probably confusing you more. Try windspray for fascia, guttering and garage door, shale grey or surfmist for rest of render and Woodland grey for the feature wall. Then if the feature wall is a stand alone colour, it could also be your front door colour? I'm using samples from a brochure so they may be way off from actual samples. So ignore me if they look rubbish. And I know I've suggested a render colour that wasn't on your list. Sorry. I'm pretty crap at externals, so maybe no help. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Well I love red, DH on the other hand doesn't! But what do you think of this.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We will be changing the doors a bit later down the track anyway....I love the pull handles and glass in the doors and we cant get these, on this house, through the builder. I was thinking yellow door, to go with the brown.... (he did say he didnt care about what it looked like!) but DH said NO, he on the other hand, suggested black...with white stripes That was a NO from me too hehehe I think we are going with #2...after looking at the colours in the sun (after all the rain we've had) and asking the neighbour (mrs jessup ) we decided that the jaspar and dune look the best, and ditching the woodland grey for 'weathered copper'....its a bit darker than jaspar, but not quite as dark as the roof. go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110560 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11035 |
