Find a site at http://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au and get involved. I will be assisting in cleaning up the Lakes in Laurimar. Love to see a few register so it can be a successful day. Visited your area couple of days ago and lake was full, even the lakes in Laurimar were extremely low prior to the rain. Some places you practically walk over. Good Luck with build. Mernda & Doreen Residen 3850Mar 02, 2012 4:48 pm Just sharing a couple of local treasures: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Two beans and a farm cafe/restaurant. Hathfelde Blvd Mernda (via Riverdale estate)Tel: 9717 0978 - They've been doing lovely brekkies, lunches and morning/afternoon teas here for quite a while and the old bluestone farmhouse is an attractive venue, plus historically interesting. There are usually kangaroos grazing in the front paddock too. They've recently obtained a liquor licence and are open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Some info on the homestead here: http://wikinorthia.net.au/index.php/Carome_Homestead Riverdale General store. Cnr The Parkway & Riverdale Blvd. Opened about 3 weeks ago and they have the usual milk bar lines, a good range of grocery items including some fresh fruit & veg, they do coffee and cake and have gas bottles and ice if you run out in the middle of a BBQ and can't be bothered driving to one of the big shopping centres. Handy for Riverdale, Woodland Waters, Hawkstowe....or if you're driving past. It'll be useful for the new estate under construction to the north of Riverdale too. Berry Lane? Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3851Mar 02, 2012 5:01 pm I won't be going to Two beans and a farm cafe/restaurant as I had an RDO a few weeks ago and the wife and I were going to go there for a coffee/bruch and support a new local business but they are NOT open on mondays Very poor considering that it has only just opened so another local business got a new customer that day and WE WON'T BE GOING BACK TO TWO BEANS & A FARM. Mernda & Doreen Residen 3852Mar 02, 2012 8:21 pm You have lofty standards. A lot of restaurants aren't open on Mondays. I figure they're entitled to a day off...after all, most of us have at least two each week. They also list their operating hours on various directory sites and on the front gate, so it's pretty simple to check when they're open. Discovered tonight that the full liquor licence isn't through yet; they're BYO only at the moment. We just had the most delicious dinner there. Fabulous food, attentive service, and kangaroos out front. What more could you want? Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3853Mar 02, 2012 8:53 pm Ive lost count of the number of time that Little Miss and I have been to Two Beans and a Farm! We usually go for brunch with a group of friends and not only is the food positively yummy, but the employees are very friendly and approachable It has a beautiful atmosphere with the river running through the back and kangaroos being within metres. My daughter probably loves it more than I.... and she's only 21 months! I think its unfair to base your judgement on their opening hours alone, especially to the extent of saying you wouldnt go back because of it? I know other local places closed on certain weekdays but would definately not boycot them for wishing a day off Hmmm..... now I want to go over the weekend! Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3854Mar 02, 2012 10:28 pm It was really lovely tonight, Bam. I love the Spanish & French influenced menu; the relaxed atmosphere; the use of produce from the property (the mixed olives and caper berries were divine) and the display of local art work. I almost can't wait for the weather to cool off so they can light the fires. Almost. Once they have a full licence, it'll be even better. I have a "thing" about local history. Soon as my foot heals and we get a fine weekend, I'm going exploring to check out the old mill site. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3855Mar 06, 2012 2:20 pm Sounds exciting, finally a new place to go and eat. I was wondering if anyone here could recommend a Private Inspector?? We are getting handover in the next couple of weeks and would like another set of eyes (professional) to go through it with us. I definitely know there are 2 stuff ups thats will need attending too!!! Can't believe how busy the area is getting now. Hopefully the duplication on Plenty Road is coming to a finish!! Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3856Mar 06, 2012 8:49 pm Dont think so Wonder how long it will take to fix the original road now? There are hapes of threads on inspectors... I cant remember the name of the one thats always recommended! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3857Mar 06, 2012 9:28 pm Is there not some irony in Buttercup complaining about people having a day off work......on a day he/she is having an EXTRA day off wprk, over and above the usual weekend days Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda & Doreen Residen 3858Mar 08, 2012 7:32 pm tjilpi Is there not some irony in Buttercup complaining about people having a day off work......on a day he/she is having an EXTRA day off wprk, over and above the usual weekend days To those who think my standards might be too high or think that it's ironic that I had a day off but expected others to work or even the nice moderator that went as far to have a personal attack "Thanks Lisanne" My point was that it is a "NEW" business and with plenty of other quality places in the area that are open 7 days a week one might think that to get a market share they might try to compete and be open 7 days. My bad Most people are busy and when you have the chance to have a break you would like a cafe /restaurant to be open (God forbit even on a monday). Mernda & Doreen Residen 3859Mar 08, 2012 7:53 pm Buttercup u r totally wrong. (In my opinion) What do u expect them to do open 7 days for a couple of months and then close on Mondays! I guess as small businesses grow, you would think operating hours would be extended at some time in the future.
