The existing house was brick with a half decent kitchen and bathroom. We engaged the house removal (gah.com.au) company in March 11 and the house was gone by August - we were lucky that the first people that inspected loved it and bought it. Overall I made around 2K profit, this included the rest of the block cleared, services removed and power pit installed. So overall it was about a 14 - 20K turnaround.... very handy if you can do this. Cheers Nice one! Good if you have something of value in the first place. Sounds like you certainly did. Where are you up to now? MP We are close to lockup - not sure why my signature did not appear - should now.. No signatures appear, which unfortunately means that I miss out on following people's links. Yes, yet another First World problem ! You're very thorough at documenting progress! I look forward to following the rest of your build. The problems with the SS/CM sound very frustrating. I hope ours stays for the duration! We're almost at the same point I think. For @MissyP and the tapatalkers out there, here's my blog and thread: http://opsweetcorn.blogspot.com/ http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51260 knock downs and re-builds 36Feb 08, 2012 12:17 am edscl Yep, if someone posts a link, it appears as normal and works fine (the app closes and the web browser opens automatically). It's just that it has a simplified layout and functionality, part of which means that signatures don't appear. Question though... If I see a white box with a red question mark where a pic should be, does that mean the pic has been removed by the OP, or is there a problem preventing me seeing it? Thanks. knock downs and re-builds 37Feb 08, 2012 12:18 am bronj For @MissyP and the tapatalkers out there, here's my blog and thread: http://opsweetcorn.blogspot.com/ http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51260 Yay, thanks bronj! Re: knock downs and re-builds 38Feb 08, 2012 1:05 pm We have just about finished this process. Hope to be in the new home in the next six weeks. We arranged the demolition ourselves then the builder took over. The whole process has been relatively easy due to a wonderful builder. I could not bear to watch the old house come down and was sad for a week or two. If I can offer any advice it would be to get lots of quotes for the demolition as they can vary to the extreme. Ours in Brisbane went from $9,500 to $25,000. Needless to say the cheaper ones were from unlicensed cowboys and the dearer ones were ridiculous. Check they are registered to do the demo and that they have asbestos accreditation. We found an excellent firm in the end and did not pay top dollar for it. We had asbestos due to the age of the house. Good luck with yours and hope it goes as smoothly as ours has. On my blog at the beginning it does, my husband deleted some photos from his computer, I really should ask him to fix his posts up, all of my posts the photos should still be there hubby, kids and me all waiting for the Amberlea Site Cut 27 September 2011 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46637 http://www.dscml.com/ Re: knock downs and re-builds 40Feb 08, 2012 3:36 pm Bankgirl We have just about finished this process. That is a huge price range, ours cost $11k, was happy with the job, the builder hasn't come back and complained and they removed the asbestos, but reading some blogs some people have had heaps of problems withthe asbestos.
