If you want I can take a picture and attach it. I would be concerned about a large over hang with 20mm and if we had known about the board underneath we might have gone for 40mm stone instead. You can't easily see it but I know it's there. This reference states that a 300 mm overhang is acceptable: http://www.uhny.com/pdf/caesarstone_tech_datasheet.pdf However, this reference states a 200 mm is the maximum: http://media.caesarstoneus.com/pdf/CS_TDM_0511.pdf The first reference is dated 2005 and the second dated 2010. So, when my house was being build, 300 mm overhang was allowed. I suspect conservatism has stepped in and now 200 mm maximum is recommended. In either case, I would never stand on the overhang. Chatz Re: 300mm kitchen bench overhang with 20mm stone 14Jan 27, 2012 6:17 am Does it make a difference if you have waterfall edge as you then have support for the 300mm overhang on each edge?? Re: 300mm kitchen bench overhang with 20mm stone 15Jan 27, 2012 9:23 pm thanks chatz. kdgirl - waterfall edge will have support only at the end. stone's manual says that any overhang more than 200mm should have some supports underneath at some regular distances. Re: 300mm kitchen bench overhang with 20mm stone 19Apr 28, 2012 6:32 pm deb17 We have 200mm overhang on ours. I have seen Henley Homes with ones that hang over much more than ours. I would say 400mm. does that henley homes with 400 overhang has 20mm stone? Thanks Ardo, they are sort of semi concealed. I think it is only a few millimetres. I see if they can adjust the hinges. 4 4364 In the end, two pieces of treated timber (20mm thick) were bolted onto the joists and planed when there was too much sticking out. Passed inspection. 13 8525 This is the best I have, as it is plastered internally now. I should add there is a steel post in the corner of the room between the window and the glass sliding door,… 3 1421 |
