Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1492Jan 21, 2012 6:03 pm nettinpete Does anyone know the cost to upgrade the kitchen cupboards to Silk finish for the Monte Carlo. Also to add drawers to the kitchen instead of cupboard doors? We just had our colour selection appointment and opted to change the bottom cupboards to draws so I can answer the question for you. The cost is $250 per bank of cupboards. Hope it helps Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1494Jan 21, 2012 8:54 pm mandv Hi and thanks for the reply and great information. We have those LIN1 Doors everywhere except in bed 2, bed 3 bed 4 and the toilet and bathroom doors of the Milano Two. I dont want to be sanding those down and stuffing them up they are expensive doors! Quote: I know the floating floorboards we are using just fix straight to the slab with no adhesive. They are the Gerflor Vinyl Floorboards in Wild Oak. I was totally against Vinyl as i would prefer timber 100% however this stuff looks and feels like timber, the colours they can produce look better than any bamboo flooring or timber flooring we could find, it is harder wearing, acoustically it is quieter and better and hence we i think it would be better for the childrens area and kids bedroooms rather than real timber. Also if they damage a panel it can be replaced easily as it has a vertical click system. the only problem is that we need a really nice level smooth slab as if there are alot of imperfections then they will need to put something down first to level out the slab. These floorboards are 6mm in thickness. Quote: Our Oven is under bench not free standing so that shouldnt be a problem. The dishwasher we have opted to get through MJH so i hope this is not an issue either. Quote: I know it may be easier and better to just get MJH to do it, but with the prices we got quoted for flooring it seemed very excessive, as i have already gotten quotes from reputable flooring companies which can do the job for half the amount. and when you are talking 30k for a quote for floors, if i can save half of that or even 1/3, thats ALOT of money! Happy to help, good luck with it all.. McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1498Jan 23, 2012 3:21 pm We've got some good news! Our DA has been approved today. Will get the paperwork tomorrow for the bank. MJH needs the balance of 5% (around $7k) and I was wondering who paid for it out of their own money, or is it usually the first progress payment of the construction loan? Bit confused about it all Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1499Jan 23, 2012 3:38 pm Hi all, Soccermum, regarding first payment, it would depend what percentage of the total price you will be paying and what precentage your loan is. We did direct deposits for the first couple of payments as we borrowed exactly 80% to avoid mortagage insurance. Congratulations on your approval. Good luck to everyone who is about to start. Kopite, congrats on handover, I think yours was the quickest built ever, apart from a few Coral homes on the forum. As for us, we are still settling in and living with dust as our landscaping is taking place at the moment. When it's done and I clean up, I'll take a few photos to post. Our cinema is our shoe room at the moment. Still to put light fittings on as only ordered these recently. I think choosing the lights has been the most difficult decision thus far.
