That was why I changed it lol I saw the base render and was taken a back by it, but I still question myself, I find colour selections scary I wish they had graphic visuals at colour selections. Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 6Jan 14, 2012 4:02 pm I know. I so do too. I spent a whole day last week looking at roofs in various parts of Syndney trying to see if my colourbond colour fades, stains etc. In the end i waste a lot of time to decide I like my choice. KDRB Carlingford, NSW Building Garden Retreat with MDJH Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 7Jan 14, 2012 4:24 pm Yeah! I definitely think Surfmist would look great on your façade. I can't imagine it being dark.... But maybe that's just my personal preferences coming in to play there. The dark brick with a light colour for contrast..... Which is a nice segue to my colour selections. If I can (without paying extra) I'd like to have a medium grey to blue-grey to contrast with the white. I was thinking of doing a dark navy, but then thought I'd have to paint it again much sooner than if I chose something lighter. Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 8Jan 14, 2012 6:03 pm Thanks caz_770, yep that's what my reasoning was re the dark brick and the light render. I love your colour combo of surfmist and the dark blue grey very striking. KTKTKT you sound so much like me lol. Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 9Jan 18, 2012 2:20 pm I think Surfmist will look fantastic! It was a great idea to change it from dark to light. Good work! I am hoping I made the right choice:) Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 11Jan 19, 2012 7:00 pm Hi sn, we are having Surfmist render! Also Surfmist cladding, dark bricks and shale grey for piers out front, so quite similar. All of the outside is done except render now. Also nervous about how it's going to turn out but the cladding looks good so far... Here's what it is now and a mockup of what it MAY look like when done. Red brick is where render will go. Hope this helps and I'm rapt someone else is doing similar! Mock up (no brick view sorry!) Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 12Jan 19, 2012 8:58 pm Oh wow mike- our colour choices are almost identical. I love how your house looks!! Love love the surfmist cladding !! Starting to feel more confident in my choice thank you for sharing your photos of your gorgeous house, I will post my pics up when render is done for you too. Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 13Feb 01, 2012 12:14 pm Hi, Quick question to both Serenitynow and Mike. Are you using regular strength surfmist or did you have it double-tinted? I was told you need double-tint surfmist when using it for render/cladding so it doesn't look like undercoat. If you used regular surfmist then you've proven double-tint probably isn't necessary. Both of your houses look lovely by the way, and I love the colour choice (and neither of them look like "undercoat"). "Whoever says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain!" Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 14Feb 01, 2012 12:41 pm Hi Keza, the above pic of mine is a mockup pic. Render is being done next week and I'll come back and post a pic here when done. The cladding has come up well I think and doesn't look like undercoat to me but you've got me worried now! Edit: to answer your question, didn't ask for double tinting on the cladding or render so I assume it's just regular strength. And I would also like to see the finished product of SN 's render! Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 15Feb 01, 2012 1:05 pm I like it ... will go beautifully with the dark bricks ... For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 16Feb 01, 2012 7:28 pm Mike, apols if I've concerned you about your colour (not my intention). In the photo your cladding definately does NOT look like undercoat. In fact, my reason for wanting to know the exact colour you used is because surfmist is on my shortlist of render colours and yours looks so nice (and, like everyone else, I want to get it right). "Whoever says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain!" Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 17Feb 01, 2012 7:41 pm No worries Kez. Pretty much had the tongue in cheek there. I'm confident its going to go alright . Is yours done now? If yes- Pics please Edit: oops, was thinking of SN when I asked if your done yet Anyway, what are you up to Kez? Building, planning stages or doing some render on your house?? Re: Surfmist render, what are your thoughts? 18Feb 02, 2012 2:54 pm So many comedians out of work and everyone's trying to be funny. Now my o/h loves to ask if I've "offended anyone new in the forum yet or am I still working on it?" Yes, he thinks he's comedy gold too. In answer to your questions - this is a reno we are undertaking. Moved up to G.C. from Melb & bought this place 12 mths ago. Purchased already rendered and painted (dark brown roof, gutters & downpipes, light mustard render). Want to give house a new paint job but we need to finish the other outside reno's first - deck rear verandah and pave rest of backyard, plus a few other thousand things. We are doing the lot ourselves so it may take a little time. Colour scheme we are considering : Roof/gutters & garage door - dune; Fascia - 1/2 or 1/4 strength dune; Eaves - lexicon quarter; Render - TBA. Michelle suggested Diaskiau. I quite like it but o/h doesn't. Surfmist is his preferred choice; Windows - white aluminium; Front property wall - dune or a variation of; Front door - Taubmans marzarine blue (or something like that), lexicon quarter for border. Our interest in surfmist came about when we passed a display house the other day that had a surfmist roof & what appeared to be surfmist render, and light grey trim (agent was no help with render colour). Anyway, it looked great & o/h wanted to know if we could have "that" colour with dune (I think he likes the whites). I think it might work. Dune matches our side fences and pool coping and surfmist is a pretty close to the rest of our outside pavers (decking will be in between house and pavers so will break it up). Anyway, that is why I am interested in yours & SN's threads & I ask silly questions (like, for instance, what colour are you going to do your eaves?). Looking forward to seeing the pics of yours and SN's builds as they progress. "Whoever says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain!" I think it's regular surfmist not completely sure though, I loved the sample render and it is a little different to the Front door which is surfmist. I am almost at Pci and they are still to do the surfmist render. Which I am told will take half a day, as soon as its done I will post pics Thanks guys makes me feel more comfortable with my choices.
