Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 4201Jan 09, 2012 8:27 am Hi All, I am busy reading all your blogs and trying to catch up with this thread. Quick question: on top of your initial quote, once your got to Hopetoun and electrical/colour selections - how much did you add in upgrades/extras here? Just trying to work out our rough budget and how much we should factor in for those "extras" you don't see at first. Porter Davis homes 4202Jan 09, 2012 8:40 am At Tender, we had spent $291,887. At Tiles, we spent $4,949 At Electrical, we spent $8,790 At Colors, we spent ~$30,000 Our flooring, blinds, fences, driveway, landscaping and wardrobes are additional to this as well. Ok cool. $30k at colours is a little scary. Is that because you upgraded from all the standards? Sorry I am still a little clueless as to how it all works. My husband is a little gung ho on "upgrade this, upgrade that" (if our walk through of the house with the sales rep was anything to go by) and I just want to keep a tight reign on the budget and know how much we have before we get there! LOL Re: Porter Davis homes 4204Jan 09, 2012 9:36 am Audreyand Oscar Thought I would try posting a few pictures. I've only been in 4 weeks so there is still a lot to do! Hi Audreyand Oscar, Your home is looking great, thanks for sharing your photos. How are you enjoying being in your new home? What time zones are the clocks set to? Hubby and I are looking at building a Porter Davis home (we just have to sell our current house first!). We were at the quote stage in Dec, but still waiting on the sale of our house until we can sign a contract. I must say I am really disappointed with the new "promotion" Porter Davis is offering. I think we would be better off trying to get them to honour the "Style Republic" offer in our quote rather than the new offer. It clearly was a better deal than what's on offer now! Looking forward to catching up with everyone's builds and learning more. Hi cinerella_375, Welcome to the forum, I’m glad to hear you’re considering building a PD home. I’m sorry to hear you’re really disappointed with the new promotion on offer and would prefer the Style Republic, have you spoken to your sales consultant about this like Rups and Alpal suggested? I think it’s worth asking about it, if you like I can have someone give you a call? If you want to send me your contact details via private message I can help you with this? With the new summer promotion you get much less in comparison to the style republic, however, the base price has dropped to $222,000 approx which is $17. Once i saw the new base price i nearly cancelled the contract but i printed both promotions and its pretty much identical price using either promotion. It's just a promo tool to get people in at a low base price. I might go over both carefully and see. But we liked a lot of the inclusions/upgrades in the Style Republic. Thanks also Ebony. We aren't quite ready to go ahead yet, as I said, as we are waiting desperately for the sale of our house before we sign. So I haven't really chatted to our sales consultant properly about it yet. I will definitely let you know if I need some help with this though. Cross your fingers we might get the sale on our place this week so we can finally get the ball rolling! Re: Porter Davis homes 4208Jan 09, 2012 3:45 pm Hi all, Spent quite a lot of time looking at all your posts and wanted to ask a question.. How long after signing the contract should I expect to receive a start date? It has been 2 months so far and nothing. Land has already settled. I'd say I'm happier with Style republic as it included some different things but there are some things included in the new promo that we had to pay for like a 3rd coat of internal paint. We did get Caeser stone to all bathrooms (except additional ensuite) and drawers to the whole kitchen which isn't included in the current promo. Interestingly our Base house price has only come down $2K so we've had a win. Quote: Hi all, Spent quite a lot of time looking at all your posts and wanted to ask a question.. Were you given a site start month when you put your $1,000 down? That's when we were told, if not you should email your BC and ask....we signed contracts on 21/10 and site start 30/11 with final drawings signed off inbetween (early November). As for us, our roof trusses were delivered today so we should have some action soon Re: Porter Davis homes 4210Jan 09, 2012 5:20 pm Quote: Were you given a site start month when you put your $1,000 down? Concerned I'm going to be pushed to pay the fee to hold the price beyond January. Re: Porter Davis homes 4211Jan 09, 2012 5:31 pm Hmmmmm well they have until the 31st to start so fingers crossed you'll be ready to go. Keep the pressure on your BC to keep you informed. Re: Porter Davis homes 4212Jan 09, 2012 7:34 pm cattycatcat Another question from me... When using the PD 24/7 portal there is a section for photos.. There isn't any photos of my house in it (it actually says that if there aren't any pics then construction of your house hasn't begun) My question is: Does anyone's 24/7 portal have photos to look through or is this another "great feature" that just isn't used? Cheers, Cat Hey there I was told when I signed up in January 2011 that this services wasn't offered any more. But it's good for keeping track of when my BC responds to my messages.
