Especially if I had been told it would be done with the joins at the side of the cooktop. (and for the record, I think humbles looks great - if you need to do joins that's the way to do it) I'm not sure if your builders will do anything about it but I really think it's worth pushing - you have to look at it everyday!! I have been trying to design my new kitchen so that the splashback isn't too big to avoid having a join so I went to a local splashback supplier who told me they will do up to 4metres without a join (as long as they have access to get it into position - e.g. no sharp bends to get around). I am not having any cut outs (not sure if that makes a difference). I also found a website that says glass splashback maximum size 5 metres in length subject to site asessment. I would not only question where the join is but also whether it's really needed at all!!! At the very least, the fact that it looks 'dirty' needs to be looked into. Good luck, I wish you all the best, keep us posted. By the way, nice kitchen!!! Re: Splashback join in centre off cooktop 11Jan 08, 2012 10:24 pm Certainly not too pedantic! The whole point of glass splashbacks (aside from looking gorgeous) is that you DO NOT have any joins/grout/silicone behind the cooktop, and hence making for an easy-to-clean, hygienic surface! I hope your builder gets this fixed up for you! Good luck! On another note - you're kitchen is lovely! Can you let us know what materials (brands/colours) you've used? Re: Splashback join in centre off cooktop 13Jan 09, 2012 8:21 am Thanks everyone for the replies and comments on our kitchen. We think the builder is back this week so will see how we go.
