Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 13, 2011 9:36 pm Hi All, I found out over the weekend that a Costco is being proposed to be built about 500m as the crow flies from where we currently live. However the actual distance (including the drive out of our estate is almost 3km). I've got mixed emotions about it - it will certainly bring life to the nearby home-maker centre but will it bring too much traffic, noise, congestion? I guess we are tucked far enough away from it not be worried but want to know the thoughts about what it would do to the general ambiance of an area. I also read that there is a proposal for an Ikea in the same precinct? I'm guessing overall it should be a good thing (jobs, shopping, alive atmosphere) We live in Panorama Vista Estate in Glenfield / Casula. The proposed location is at the Homemaker centre in Casula / Crossroads. I also shop at IKEA in Springvale, been half a dozen times since it opened, so much variety, prices are great too. brings value to the area too. will attract potential buyers having the big name chains nearby. ___________ Started design Aug 2011 Plans submitted to council Dec 2011 Re: What would you think if a Costco went up in your area? 5Dec 14, 2011 9:55 pm oh me to i am a ikea addict Building The Harvard 271 With Dennis Family Homes My Blog http://www.ourhouseinwallan.blogspot.com My Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51625&p=789135#p7891353 Re: What would you think if a Costco went up in your area? 6Dec 15, 2011 12:01 am Depends, do you like shopping there??? I went to the one in Melb and I didn't like it at all. I found you had to buy large quantities, and they only tended to run one brand of most things, so limited choices. But I've met quite a few people who love it, so I guess it depends on that! I think it will add value to your property tho, people like bargain shopping these days close by! Something that I have realized over time, not that i agree with. Like you say projects and shop will be jobs etc to the area. More people will be exposed to the area and buy in, and only a few people will want to move out because of it. Over all the area will grow. Re: What would you think if a Costco went up in your area? 8Dec 15, 2011 10:47 pm thanks guys..generally i like shopping there but don't like the massive crowds that come on the weekends. I guess having them close will help us to be able to get there very early or later in the afternoon/evening. i think it will also create a nice type of buzz close by... as the only buzz that we have at the moment is the distant hum of the M7/M5/Hume... so this will certainly be a refreshing change... i like the idea that people generally want to be close to these type of large 'destination' retailers so that can only be a good thing for the area Project History Deposit - 20/4/2010 Land Settled - 20/8/2010 Council - 30/9/2010 Slab - 17/11/2010 Bricks - 28/01/2011 Roof - 5/02/2011 Gyprock - 4/03/2011 Thanks mate.
