I would have thought we'd have things done at the same time seeing as we're building the same house with the same SS and start time. JLD, They will not do them both at the same stage as they can not utilise the same tradies at the same time. Having said that it makes you wonder though as our build the tradies have not been there an entire day, just half days here and there. I know what you mean but I still thought it would be one house one day/week then the next house but they seem 2 steps behind ours. Doesn't really matter just my curious nature Haven't heard from our SS and I have a question for him already! Not a huge issue but was hoping that they will be arranging crossover protection (you know the wooden slats) so that we don't end up with a giant mud patch as a crossover..... Framing booked to start on Thursday if the chippes finish their current job on time, so yeh - should have a frame up in the next 7ish days. Meeting with our SS on-site on Monday for a meet n greet, and to go through the little extras we want (noggins, ducted vac locations, etc). He's on leave for 3 weeks over Xmas, but a lot of his trades are working through, so the ones he trusts will continue to work on our place. In terms of the crossover maybe ask them to spread some crushed rock to prevent them diging it up and creating a mud pit.. Re: Porter Davis homes 3926Dec 06, 2011 1:51 pm JLD Do I do that or do they normally get in touch soon to organise one? They should contact you but in my case I had the original contact from the SS stating he would organise a day and he never come back to me. After our meeting today I can see why - his phone never stops ringing. Best to contact your BC and as them to arrange an onsite meeting with your SS. Once you have the meet'n'greet you'll be able to contact him directly for things more informally. Hope this helps Cheers, Alpal Building PD Heathmont 40 BLOG: http://alpal-pd-heathmont40.blogspot.com/ Deposit paid 19/08/2011 Contract signing 3/10/2011 Site Start 10/11/2011 Slab 23/11/2011 Re: Porter Davis homes 3927Dec 06, 2011 3:09 pm Alpal JLD I know what you mean but I still thought it would be one house one day/week then the next house but they seem 2 steps behind ours. We had the wooden slat placed on the cross over and also the crush rock spread across the front yard. I think it would be standard proceedure. But from memory these were placed a week or two after site scrape was done.. I think . In regards to meeting your SS, I called my SS this morning to arrange another inspection tomorrow as he didn't turn up for our last weeks meeting and he told me that he won't be able to see us until after xmas as he has 8 homes to finish before xmas. Just a heads up so you don't get too dissapointed if your SS can't see you this side of xmas as they could be under the pump. They should, but if its not to your timeline, then you should.. build the relationship with your SS immeadiately. HE IS BUILDING YOUR HOUSE. My SS is good, we have a good relationship, even when there are issues, I approach them as nice as pie, and he has always sorted it out. I rang him today, on the spot he agreed to catchup on friday @ 7am onsite. Re: Porter Davis homes 3932Dec 07, 2011 1:05 pm Well I shouldn't have spoken so soon, after a second unprompted phone call from my BC in a fortnight she was ringing to say our slab pour has been brought back again to the 12th (Mon) with frames to begin on Wed Can't be unhappy with that Re: Porter Davis homes 3933Dec 07, 2011 1:15 pm Awesome news Rups and JLD! My Dad went by our place today and they have finished the framing and just need to add the front door area and the roof- our BC told us yesterday that they were going to start yesterday (Tues) or today (Wed), i think they started on Monday as the timber was already cut when we saw it on the weekend. I have heard from others who have built a lot of tradies continue to work during the break and it's just PD and some supervisors that take some leave - fingers crossed we have a little work in the break.
