Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 4Nov 30, 2011 3:48 pm Hi suzmic & GardenofNeedn-58, I am building in Baldivis. I'm feeling a little perturbed at the moment as I have just let the 2nd builder I was talking to know that I've signed on with Aussie. He came back with, well, he basically said he felt they have a better product and are better in general than Aussie, but it was obvious I had made up my mind the first time I came in to see him, so he was a bit hesitant to fight for my business (ie. I was wasting his time) I'm not going to mention their name, but I probably won't consider them next time I build! I guess this means that next time I should try not to be so honest with the sales consultant!!! Hopefully things will run quite smoothly, but I expect there will be ups and downs for sure!! Thanks for the re-assurance. It's great to know there's others out there going through the same thing. As I am doing this on my own, I'll probably on this forum constantly from here on in! Probably should've posted sooner! I have started a blog called "Building in Baldivis" on Wordpress, but need to read forum rules to see if I can link to it (maybe in my sig..... Once I work out how to create one!) Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 5Nov 30, 2011 4:27 pm Hi,, thats great, i will look up your thread later, i started one too but not sure how to link it either. Im sure i will also be posting on here a lot after prestart.. and after our build starts. actually we had exactly the same issue.. of a builder we didn't choose.. telling us their builds were much higher spec.. than the builder we chose.. etc etc.. and that they were better at it etc.. It put even more doubt in my mind!! our houses should both be starting about the same time then.. hopefully early next year?.. Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 6Nov 30, 2011 8:55 pm suzmic actually we had exactly the same issue.. of a builder we didn't choose.. telling us their builds were much higher spec.. than the builder we chose.. etc etc.. and that they were better at it etc.. It put even more doubt in my mind!! Hmmmm, I'm gonna take it as being one of those "tricks of the trade" or just part of the games we play. It did make me feel a bit crappy at first, but it looks like it's just something they use to play you. My settlement date for my block of land isn't due until February next year. I'm not even sure if the title is issued for it yet!! I'm half tempted to go on the Landgate website, create an account and do a search just so I can find out!! The guy I signed the contract of sale with gave me the impression that titles had been issued, he just didn't know what the Volume and Folio were and the sellers would put those details in when they signed the acceptance. Which they didn't do..... I've heard bad things about title issues being delayed and therefore everything else is delayed and costs involved, etc. So scary!!! Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 7Nov 30, 2011 11:05 pm We were lucky that our land was already titled. yeah, maybe check on the landgate website, we did that too Then you will know. Things do seem to move much faster when the land is already titled from other posts I have read on here. Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 9Dec 08, 2011 12:55 pm scleave hi we are building the serenity with aussie living in byford they have been great so far we are still waiting on titles though so nothing has started which house design are you building? Hi scleave, I am building the Coogee with Activity.... But without the activity.... Actually, I've changed it a fair bit from the original design, but the basic design is the Coogee with Activity. Even though your title has been issued you, how far along are you with Aussie? I signed the "preparation of plans" agreement about 2 weeks ago. Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 10Dec 08, 2011 3:45 pm We signed the building contract october last year. We are just waiting on titles which have taken so long but Aussie seem to be quick with everything. so far havent had any troubles but will wait and see what happens when we actually start building! Our titles are due the end of this month/ beginning january we have waited 1 and half years! Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 11Dec 10, 2011 1:17 am UPDATE: Got a letter from Aussie Living yesterday, telling me my block is ready for them to do the survey and engineer's report (or whatever), so I guess this means my block is titled! Hooray! Now I'm trying to choose my colours for the exterior.... It's harder than I thought it would be! I know I want 2 course bricks in a cream colour, light coloured Colorbond roof and contrasting gutters/fascia and windows..... But I don't know whether to go with "shades of grey" or "shades of brown"..... Decisions, decisions..... I might even go with shades of white/blue! I've just signed a "preparation of plans" agreement with Aussie Living Homes and am experiencing a bit of buyers remorse already! There's no real reason for it, I'm just freaking out because I've never built a house (or bought one, for that matter) and it's all gone very quickly!! Has anyone built with Aussie Living in Perth recently? I know it's a little late to be asking this, but any feedback would be appreciated.[ I strongly recommend you to hire a independent building inspetor, right now I am building with them, and since the beginning of the construction I have many issues with them, tomorrow I will receive the inspector report and they would have to fix many things, from poor brick work done, wrong position light switch, sliding door frames to low, etc. Believe is a nightmare, I am trying to upload some picture of prove but I not able to find how] Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 14Feb 27, 2012 5:47 pm I strongly recommend you to hire a independent building inspetor, right now I am building with them, and since the beginning of the construction I have many issues with them, tomorrow I will receive the inspector report and they would have to fix many things, from poor brick work done, wrong position light switch, sliding door frames to low, etc. Believe is a nightmare, I am trying to upload some picture of prove but I not able to find how] Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 15Sep 21, 2013 3:03 pm I see you are building with Aussie Living in Baldivis,I also used them and will not deal with them again. My place is also in Baldivis and you are free to visit and see their work yourself Re: Building with Aussie Living Homes 16Jan 15, 2014 2:46 pm I am in the middle of trying to cancel a building contract with aussie living. they have been a nightmare to deal with and ten months in construction has not even begun. I would certainly never recommend them or deal with them ever again I would be wary. Is you site demilished but nothing else done? Sounds like liquidity problems to me. Our builder did the same.
