Re: A few questions on pendent lighting 6Nov 23, 2011 10:13 pm we have the pendant lights (mini chandeliers) over our side tables and we love it. So much more room on your table. They might date, but only with the rest of the house, so dont worry about that. You can always update the pendant if you want to modernise the room anyway. We then had two downlights in the bedroom, but in hindsight I don't think it would have mattered if we put another chandelier in the room. Put what you like there, pretty much no one else really goes in there anyway. Kitchen: Def put 3 over bench, and as long as the dining table fitting doens't totally clash, put something grand there too. It's all personal taste really, if you like it, that's all that matters. Try to keep scale in mind with lighting. I love your thinking!! A thankful person is a happy person. Most lighting purchased from existing stores does not give you any flexibility in design, colour, number of lights etc so unless you can find an exact match for your requirements (which is almost impossible) then you may have to search high and low for a long time until you find something that comes even close. Think outside the box and look for lighting solutions that you can customise to suit your own needs, space and Decor. I'm doing it with the current renovations. And three over the kitchen bench is great, with lights I always think three or five or one, for some reason odd numbers seem best. Any suggestions for kitchen pendants? Re: A few questions on pendent lighting 9Mar 29, 2012 8:08 pm Hi Libby When it comes to pendant lighting, there are many options available to you and many different manufacturers. The main concern of course is your budget. Just look at the height of the ceiling in question, then the height of the object you wish to hang the fitting over. A general rule is 2/3 of the height between the ceiling and the surface of the object below should be left as open space so you really need to be careful about what you choose Dean Dean Cato - CEO Murano Italian Decor and Glass Lights http://www.italiandecor-glasslights.com salesandsupport@italiandecor-glasslights.com Re: A few questions on pendent lighting 10Mar 29, 2012 10:56 pm Answer 1:-New idea, looks good, give it a go. How often do you move your bed now? If you're like me you only move the bed when you move house. Answer 2:-No to third light. Do you live in a hot climate? If so maybe put a fan over the bed. Answer 3:-Maybe put a 4 spotlight bar over the island and in the dining/lounge have matching drums or pendants. Answer 4:-Everyone else here is suggesting hard wired lights but they are forever. I think you should stick with your suggestion of batten fix and DIY pendants. If you have kids there are are some great DIY and you can update as they grow. I think there is now a much bigger range of DIY than before. A lot of people won't buy them because they regard them as cheap but I have them as I would rather spend $1,000 on something other than a bloody lightshade. This is the batten fix in my front hall-----------------and I want this DIY pendant Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Regards, Grumbles Re: A few questions on pendent lighting 11Mar 31, 2012 10:14 am I would love to see a pic with pendants over the bedsides............. can anyone put up a link to a photo? cheers Re: A few questions on pendent lighting 12Mar 31, 2012 3:33 pm A couple of links http://lampegras.fr/index.php?p=modele&n=214 http://www.madaboutthehouse.com/2012/03 ... de-lights/ http://www.circleoflight.com.au/pendant-light.html http://adreamhousefortrish.blogspot.com ... rence.html Regards, Grumbles Re: A few questions on pendent lighting 14Apr 04, 2012 11:21 pm What a gorgeous bedroom!
