Re: Double Storey Home - Increase first floor ceiling height 9Nov 21, 2011 7:39 pm Mark, We are virtually the same as you! We have 2.7m at the front of our bottom storey and a 600 split so have 3.3m in our back living dining and kitchen area then 2.7m upstairs, I can't wait to see the 3.3m ceilings, I. Think they will be amazing AussieMark Hi There, I originally specified 34c for lower floor which is 2,914mm and 32c on upper floor which is 2,743mm. This has now changed a little as I am sinking the rear of my house with a split level. So front will be 32C and back will be 38C and first story will be 32c. Not sure where you are located but there are R-code restrictions that require approval to go beyond 6m. I think mine will be only an inch over and I have a neighbour who is about 0.5m over. The measurement is taken from natural ground level which will be on the elevation and site survey. Cost wise its is not that much in relation to the whole house. The standard course is 28C so I am paying around 15K i think to have the extra height. The house is a reasonable size so I guess it is a function of how many more bricks are needed. Total house with garage is around 530M2. Personally I prefer the higher ceilings as I have always lived in houses with them. I guess it will add to heating and cooling costs however I am also getting double glazed to help from that angle. Not sure if it helps but if it were me I would want the higher. The reason we did not make the upstairs higher is because it it mainly bedrooms and games area. All living and entertaining areas are in the 38c section. Cheers Mark Re: Double Storey Home - Increase first floor ceiling height 10Nov 21, 2011 8:42 pm I have 2.55 downstairs and 2.4 upstairs, wish I had increased upstairs Re: Double Storey Home - Increase first floor ceiling height 11Nov 21, 2011 9:26 pm buildingbee willcres buildingbee Awesome!
