If you are uncomfortable with what you are bring told you can always get an independent inspector in. Note that the builder will then try to extend the contract date due to delays waiting for the inspectors report. My independent inspector indicated on the report that 8 noggins were not tightly fitted between the studs. He didn't mention any violations of the BCA or Australian Standards, but my site supervisor promised to fix them. Here's an example of the gap in noggins. Gap is half the size of a 5 cent coin (I have 8 of these).
