Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Westminster Homes 622Oct 16, 2011 7:20 pm Hi Everyone, its been a while since I have made a post but we are sharing everyones frustrations and uncertainty as to how our build will progress or how long it will take before it is completed. We have are waiting on a couple of quotes to see how much it will cost to complete and both builders have said it will only take 5 to 6 weeks to complete. We are hoping that we may get some answers this thursday and are looking forward to going to the meeting and meeting you all Re: Westminster Homes 623Oct 19, 2011 8:03 pm SunshineT Hi GForce - that sounds like extremely useful info. Does HWI = Home Warranty Insurance? That's great that HWI pays out 20% to either the new company or if people go privately. I was wondering how all that worked (and hope I don't have to use it with our builder; after coming to close to signing with WHM). Does the HWI cover any client costs for interest paid on mortgages, rent etc. (due to the long delays in WMH doing the work, and now the admin process of new builder? Or maybe that is what the 20% covers? ). What option are you thinking of doing? Or just wait and see? In a way, it is a relief that WMH has gone under so now the insurance kicks in and hopefully you can all see your dream homes completed. I've gotten to know a few you guys (off line, you know who you are) and I am so hoping things get better for you SunshineT - With all these questions, you really need to talk to your Home Warranty Issuer. Im talking about the insurance policy issued by Vero to Westminster (which I have). I cant speak for any other insurer as their policy schedules are all different. On top of all that each insurer will most likely have a slightly different policy depending on which builder they are issuing HWI to. Different builders present different risk profiles. Are/were you even building with Westminster?? Re: Westminster Homes 624Oct 27, 2011 9:10 am HEY ALL HOW IS EVERYONE TRAVELLING. IM JUST CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT STAGE EVERYONE IS UP TO??? IF ANYONE HAS HAD QUOTES YET. IM BUILDING IN WADALBA AND DONT KNOW WERE TO START. =[ LOVE TO HEAR BACK AND SEE WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING Re: Westminster Homes 625Oct 27, 2011 12:38 pm Hi Coley7, I know, we're the same & don't know where to start, we're building in Sydney. Have you lodged a claim yet & got quotes? Re: Westminster Homes 626Oct 27, 2011 1:05 pm Hi coley7 and springtime I do not know when we will start because I have not yet recieved any quote from my insurance company. Has anyone recieved any quotes? Re: Westminster Homes 627Oct 27, 2011 1:16 pm Hi I want a solution. The quotes I'm referring to are quotes from other builders to finish our house . We're still waiting for QBE to get back to us. The hardest part of all of this is the waiting & the mortgage repayments Re: Westminster Homes 629Nov 01, 2011 1:48 pm hey all. i have lodged a claim havent yet heard anything back yet have spoken to a couple of builders who say a possible 8 wks to finish but havent got any quotes as yet. this whole thing is soo frustrating. its been 2 yrs and we are still playing the waiting game Re: Westminster Homes 630Nov 01, 2011 2:47 pm Hi Everyone... Just thought I would let you know I have heard Kurmond Homes will quote homes that are under construction. Although I am not one of the Westminster customers that are under construction, I was able to take my plans and have received nothing but great service!! They have been great to me ... very efficient and helpful and would definately recommend contacting them... number to help you out is 1300 764 761 .. Hope you all get your dreams homes under way as soon as possible!!!.... Re: Westminster Homes 631Nov 01, 2011 5:03 pm Hi Everyone, Re the last post from Newy, please read the reviews on product review, here is the link : http://www.productreview.com.au/p/kurmond-homes.html Coley7, I know what you mean, it is a pretty slow process, but the way I look at it, WM went down on 05.10.11, so we should know where we stand with the insurance companies by early January, the waiting though is very very stressful! Re: Westminster Homes 632Nov 11, 2011 3:59 pm Has anyone had any progress or know if a builder has been found? Re: Westminster Homes 633Nov 15, 2011 1:48 pm Hi Guys since that meetimg with Home wrranty insurance manager ,Does any one get any response or recieved any information in regard appointing of a builder. cheers Re: Westminster Homes 635Nov 27, 2011 9:15 pm Hi everyone, has anyone had any success with there insurance company? They seem to be very slow and communications very poor. It would be great to see some progress but not much seems to have changed or progressed. Re: Westminster Homes 636Dec 07, 2011 9:41 pm Hi guys is there any news from the insurance company (QBE) , as time is being wasted and is costing alot of money ,please please has anybody recieved any letter or information about this? If so, please let me know. This time is very hard for all of us. Re: Westminster Homes 637Dec 09, 2011 10:33 am i havent heard any news as yet. which is no real surprise we went through all this with westminister so may aswell go through it with everyone else. it is what we signed up for right. I think i am officially over it 2 years and still waiting. Re: Westminster Homes 638Dec 09, 2011 11:26 am Honestly, this is just so pathetic! Building a house is supposed to be exciting, not a complete nightmare! May God help us all Re: Westminster Homes 639Dec 22, 2011 10:45 am Well, I finally settled with my insurer (Lumleys - yes, it was that long ago, they stopped being an insurer for Westminster almost 2 years ago I think). To be fair - they were pretty good to deal with, and considering the circumstances - I think the turnaround time was acceptable. On another matter though - I am still struggling to get all the paperwork that wasn't supplied.... chasing all sorts of contractors directly now... fun fun fun. Good Luck Everyone Re: Westminster Homes 640Dec 22, 2011 1:16 pm Hi Onge, When you said you settled, what exactly happened? Has your home been completed? We have been in ours for 2 years and a whole lot of repairs were never done, we are about to put in our claim, did they give you a payment for the outstanding work or do you need to get quotes for the work to be finished? ( we would prefer the second option). Thanks for the info and thank you for keeping us update I had been wondering what is happening with all the people they have left in limbo. T.
